The Scrabble banner I used over on the ad-ridden FFF was a really good idea, so I thought I'd poll the audience again.  Any ideas for a theme for a signature graphic?

The physical constraints here are a little different: the graphic has to be a max. of 200x200 pixels, which means it can't be too detailed, and the optimum shape is square.

Heck, it actually does sound kinda like a single Scrabble tile, come to think of it.
 
Ideally, a standard Web banner size would be nice - 468x60.  It's a lot wider, but on the other hand its actual pixel count is a lot smaller.

That said, I wouldn't want to unduly restrict anyone else.  Does the forum software allow you to restrict graphic size by pixel count instead of height x width, or a combination of both (to prevent some wit from creating  a banner that's 40000 pixels wide and one high, say)?

That said, it's just my preference, so don't change it merely because I'm the first to whine.

I think someone suggested the Alpha-Bits thing last time around, too!  I wonder if it's doable, at least without having to go buy a bunch of cereal?  My 3D skills aren't quite that good. Besides, I don't have a digital camera. :)

Wow, nice Photoshop job (I assume).  Looks like you've found the same Alpha-Bits characters I have, too . . .

I like the idea, but I'm still brainstorming.

I'm not really liking the alphabits, they look weird (I think they're dropping pixels on a white/transparent background).

If I was just doing my name, I'd do keyboard or old school typewriter keys, but that's because I'm a geek.
 
Since you have Clark Kent as your avatar, how about a nice superman logo--only edited for "Ransom." Maybe a big R instead of an S?

I was seriously contemplating that when I made the avatar, actually.

Though rather than the shield, I was thinking of the classic block letters from the comic book title:

Or perhaps the classic Art Deco of Action Comics:

Though with that one, it's probably less recognizable and I'll have to figure out what else to put in the banner.
 
In honour of Timmeh! I am contemplating pasting one up ransom-note style (no pun intended), or perhaps writing "RANSOM" on a padded wall in blood, with a couple of the letters backwards.
