What percentage of people who say there will come to church with you on Easter will actualy show up?

I deliberately avoid inviting anyone to church on Easter or the other holidays, so I wouldn't know.  IMO, it's more awkward than normal church services.

We'll just open the doors and let all the people pour in ...the ones who come to church twice a year with maw maw and paw paw.

I enjoy our services whether it is Easter or Groundhog Day.

I meant it's more awkward for them, IMO.

I'd say anecdotally, one out of three.
We use Easter Invite Cards and have been very successful in getting guests to attend our Easter services. 'Reaching' them is another matter. We do have some who have trusted Christ and attend regularly who had their first contact at one of our two annual outreach services. Easter in spring and Back to Church Sunday in the fall. But, the number wouldn't be extremely high.

But, at least down here (south), people are still open to attend Easter services and other outreach activities.

Easter and Christmas.  2 times each year that non-Christians actively consider church attendance.  %'s vary drastically based on a number of criteria.  However, you should expect a higher % than normal.

I am surprised that some think Easter (Resurrection Day) is Awkward.  It is the celebration or memory of one of the most important doctrines of our faith.  What's next?  "Jesus" is too awkward, so we don't say His name in public?  Next I will hear that the Bible is too old fashioned and it should be modernized into a comic book or a mini-series (Oh, wait, they did that).

Criminy, you folks jump to a lot of conclusions.  It's not worth my time straightening you out, though.

yep - worked a little satire into that one.

Seriously though, what is awkward about Easter?

I THINK CM means that Easter is not a normal service in most churches...and there can be a 'different' atmosphere on Easter Sunday.

Exactly.  There's the potential for the unexpected at a holiday service, and that doesn't always turn out well.  Holiday services can also run long and try the visitor's patience if he/she's not receptive to it.  Even if it goes well, it might feel like "bait and switch" when the visitor comes to a normal service, especially if the members are extra friendly during a holiday service, but ignore the visitor at other times.  I've had that experience myself many years ago (even though I was already a Christian).  I visited a church Christmas service, and was treated very well.  Then I was snubbed at the few services I attended afterward.

Maybe they read your posts on the forum? ;)

That can and does happen.
I assume that most churches take pains to see that isn't the case....I know we do!
