I fell on ice a couple Saturdays ago and came away with a severe contusion, concussion, and serious swelling that persists some 11 days later. To add more joy to the situation ALAYWIFE also fell this past Sunday and broke her foot 😞 Remember us for His healing hand if you would please.

Hey brother, time for you and the wife to move to Florida. We only get snow and ice once a decade! 😎 🙏🏻

Thanks for your prayers forum friends. I took Mrs ALAYMAN for a follow-up today and they said she won't have to have surgery, so that is really good news.

And Huk, I could easily see myself being a snowbird. I never thought I would say that because I am a true homer, but the older I get the less I am certain that I'm going to keep roots here, at least not through the miserable doldrums of Southern Ohio winters. I have a friend that used to go to church up here and moved his family down to the Orlando area, Gulfside, so he was south of all of that snow y'all just got. That was crazy though, 10 in in New Orleans! Your ducks must have been really confused, LOL.

If you move to Orlando, worst case scenario is snow flurries once every ten or fifteen years (not even sticking to the ground). However, there are so many areas of Florida I’d recommend before Orlando. I’ve been in the state for nearly 25 years, so if you ever get serious about moving, hit me up and I’ll give you some pros and cons to different parts of the state. In addition to living here, my job has taken me around Florida and Georgia at times. I don’t have to do a ton of traveling, but I’ve done enough to know where I’d want to live or not live. My favorite is the upper part of the Nature Coast or the lower end of the Big Bend.

Well, if this place is still around and you are still posting, I may very well take you up on that when the time comes. I'm looking at, optimally, about 4 years before that decision even needs to be made. But time really does fly. I never thought I'd have 35 years in at one job, but in a blink of an eye here I am. I've been to South Florida twice, and I am absolutely certain that as bad as the heat and humidity is in Southern Ohio Summers, I have no interest in a tropical Hades, lol, so I'm pretty sure it would be in the northern or Central areas, based on the heat index anyway.

I’m willing to bet you’d love the Ocala area. My wife is from that area, so I’m very familiar with it. It gets a little cooler in the winter, but not as cold as the panhandle. Lots of rolling hills, horses, etc. Far enough from Tampa and Orlando to retain a small city feel, but close enough to big cities if there’s a need. It is definitely a growing city though.

i was going to suggest honolulu or one of the other hawaiian islands at a similar elevation ... as we have no winter at all by mainland standards... ...... but then i saw your comment about a tropical hades.... :cautious:..... .as a dweller of that hades i can tell you from what i have observed - when mainlanders try to live here - is that the heat of the tropics is not what bothers them the most..... it;s the culture shock.... .. the culture of hawaii is not like anything found on the mainland ... and most cannot adapt to it...... even if they are able to adapt to the heat and having no big season changes..... 🌴🥥

but on the other hand there are places on the big island that have milder temperatures and are even cold by a hawaiian dweller of hades standards..... plus there are so many mainland tourists in and out of there constantly so the culture shock can be shared or at least buffered... .:sneaky:... .... but then you would have to deal with the volcano and never knowing when it was going to erupt....🌋 ....oh well... even paradise has it;s drawbacks....

Praying for you and your wife, Brother. Even here in the Southern states we get snow and ice at times, and it's been our experience to fall on our keisters as well. UGH! So, I sympathize and empathize with y'all.

I live up a hollow or as they say around here, holler, with lots of slope to the terrain. I definitely would prefer rolling hills to flatland.

If we do end up drifting towards warmer climate, I don't foresee it as a permanent move, which is why the snowbird idea appeals. Having said that, I definitely would be in for the more moderate and consistent climate of Hawaii rather than the tropical heat and humidity of the summer months in South Florida. As far as the volcano goes, maybe it's a wash with all the hurricanes Florida gets each year. And I've heard you talk about the culture adjustment that mainlanders experience enough to know that that would be a big challenge, along with the consistent raining which really gets on my nerves here, lol.
