Years ago I had a very serious health crisis, almost died. I have been good a keeping my weight (6"2" 200 lb) in line, but lately, working at home I eat too much. Pry that I can be more disciplined.

I can relate,....

praying 🙏

I have had a struggle with weight for the last three decades because of the necessity of steroids to help fight an autoimmune disease that the doctors found I had when I was 12. I can fully relate to being in the fight against being tubby! :)

I dropped 20 lbs during August/September but I can't recommend the method... both of Angela's parents passed away 35 days apart. Helping to get their property ready to sell was a lot of exercise. I am continuing the "disciplined" eating... I figured why let a good trial go to waste?

abcaines, I'm sorry to hear about your wife's parents. I know just losing one parent or parent-in-law is stressful, but two within just a few weeks of each other must be a horrible thing to go through. I know that when my father died from cancer in June of 2000, and when my m-i-l passed away on July 4, 2005, my wife and I both lost a lot of weight. It was hard to eat, concentrate, and to deal with some of the relatives we had to deal with were beyond what we had the patience to deal with....some of them being unreasonable, hateful, and greedy beyond what we ever thought we'd see in our families. Ugh!

We were/are blessed that the family is, for the most part, in complete unison about what needs to happen. For the past few years, Angela's sister has been POA/Executor of Mom and Dad's affairs. Angela's brother has been a tremendous blessing as well. Angela and I have been involved in helping with the physical labor since we live closest to the estate. Yes, it has been rough but just being there to be a blessing to the family has carried us along. Truly, grace has been our sufficiently. I was even asked to speak at Dad's services. What a blessing to honor Dad and preach the gospel!

We knew Mom wasn't going to last long without Dad; they were together 65 years, but we had no idea she'd go in five weeks. On the plus side, we got everything done in one short period of time. God's grace was indeed our strength and many saw that and much seed was sown.

Sorry to hear about the family deaths. As far as dieting goes, I hate the word “diet,” because diets are temporary, and what people really have to do is a permanent nutritional lifestyle change. For me, that meant trying to eat a “green” with every meal, not eating “seconds,” and, most importantly, greatly reducing empty carbs. I was by no means fat, but being in my early 40s, I wasn’t liking what I was seeing, so by making a couple of nutritional changes, it helped me go from flab to abs. (Sounds like I should make an infomercial 😆) Anyway, best wishes with the journey.
