Some of you will really love this....I know Smellin Coffee does!  :D

HA! HA! Actually, I was just making a joke on FB. I really don't care. Jesus didn't set up the church like the way we have it in our culture anyway so having a kiosk is really no different than adding a french horn to the worship band. Not a moral issue any more than anything else.

FYI, I don't have the functionality but I was going to post the pick of the kiosk on your "Where X-treme contemporary movement is headed" thread but alas, joke foiled by lack of cyber functionality.

What happened to good ol' ushers?

Maybe if we drape it with a gold sport jacket, that will give it an "usher" feel!

It's better than that metal mail slot, in the hallway with carpeted walls...shocking!

What is the monthly cost to operate it and what percentage are the charging?

Did they also provide online giving for your website?

I'm not sure of the particulars...I'll check and let you know.
I do know that the gifts online and thru the kiosk are processed through our local bank and there is a charge for every transaction....1% I believe.

If the total charge is 1%, and not 1% on top of the merchant service charge and any +++, I would be VERY interested to know the details.  We have been kicking around the options.  This is a cool concept, but we're not convinced it is cost effective for our church.

"Hey Maude, would you look at that. Is that there that new fangled e-lec-tronic tithing whatchamagigger? Why, next thing you know, they will be a doin' e-lec-tronic church. We can just sit at home in front of those dangburnit computin' machines and 'attend' church from the comfort of our rockin' chairs."

:D

Now I'm only kidding, so please no one take offense. Our church has a couple; one near each main entrance. I did my little narrative above in a old person's tone because I don't see many of our older members using them. Granted, I haven't seen everyone who has used them, but from what I've observed, it's mostly the middle-aged and younger members / attenders that use them. And yes, that includes my wife and I. Usually we put cash in the offering basket, but there's been times when we have forgotten our cash at home, so have used the kiosk instead. Handy in a pinch, but I prefer the more "old fashion" way.

Well, that's exactly what we are kicking around...how useful will this new gadget be?

I wish that I could donate to our church online, but that is beyond their thinking.

I'm sure you're aware.....many don't write checks or carry cash these days, especially the younger generation. A huge percentage of our giving is through bill pay and on line. The giving kiosk is still relatively new, but the percentage of people using it is growing weekly.
