I decided to take the back road home and stopped along the river trail near my house. The scene is very peaceful. Locust trees in full bloom and smelling sweet.
OH YEAH! Whenever I'm stressed out and I need a good ride before going home, this song rolls through my head as I leave work.
BTW I've always loved this tune since it was first released as a single in 1979. I had just been moved from Oregon back to California and I had a lot of crazy things I had to overcome. See my testimony. I'd often sit in my room listening to the radio late into the evening trying to unwind. I loved it when the song would wind down sounding like a space ship coming in for a landing. A weird way to end a song but a very satisfying conclusion. I think back to those evenings and my blood pressure drops a few points. THANKS.
Actually the picture I posted is within walking distance of our house. I arrived there after taking one of my long way home routes. (The shortest one TBH)My wife and I used to have our favorite spot in Murfreesboro down by the Stones River. Lots of wildlife, and plenty of beautiful scenery. Of course, for us, it wasn't "the long way home" since it was right behind our apartment complex.

Yes, it's a famous (or should I say "infamous" IFB city! The Sword of the Lord, Franklin Road Baptist Church, the Bill Rice Ranch, Middle Tennessee Baptist Church (Pastor Tony Hutson, Curt Hutson, the late Sword publisher/president's son), and some other well-known IFB considerations here. I went to the BRR several times during my youth back in the 70s. When my wife and I moved here in '95, we lived a block-and-a-half from the Sword offices. We attended Franklin Road Baptist Church for a short time...it was a great church (and still is) but had its challenges, probably too many at the time we went there. The Rice family was, and still is, loved here in this area. We even have a road off of TN Rt 96 named John R Rice Blvd.Murfreesboro! That's a famous city in fundamental circles, isn't it? I will never forget one time I went to a two week Sign Language class there at the Bill Rice Ranch. Dr Bill Rice's son, Ronnie was such a ham, I remember. But it really cost me because while I was there, my transmission went out on my car. That was a very memorable time because it was JUST AS Reagan was taking office and those evil Iranians were scurrying to give us back our hostages. I had several college friends that grew up there.
But to get back on theme, I'm remember that that area did, indeed, have plenty of beautiful scenery as I sure Washington does too.
You're probably aware of this but I'll say it anyway, where I live in Washington is the east side. In fact, the the opposite bank in that picture is in Idaho. But to get back on theme, I'm remember that that area did, indeed, have plenty of beautiful scenery as I sure Washington does too.
