Pathetic - he is twisting Scripture to justify actions called an abomination by God.  He blithely declares that ALL condemnation of homosexual behavior takes place in the context of idolatry.  I think he's confused.  The bible injunction about not marrying non-Jews seems to always be in the context of idolatry.  But what about plain passages such as Lev 18:23?  And Romans 1:27?

Their policy had been "don't ask, don't tell", but the entire matter came to a head when a man was put up for deacon whom the pastor knew was a homosexual.

Would they accept as a deacon a man that is committing adultery?  I'm guessing not - and yet adultery is condemned just as homosexuality is.

Wait, I thought homosexuals were the same thing as Sodomites. I guess Paul disagrees with many here on the forum about that.

You may or may not already know but Smellin has his own, personal canon of positive reinforcement. Any passage that deviates from what he believes is cut out. That is very fluid, because he isn't really sure what his belief system entails...except that the sin of sodom was inhospitality and the death of Christ was simply a martyr's death.
