Guilt by retroactive association

This one comes from none other than Gail the Ripper. Her latest e-newsletter, the "Riplinger Report," has this shocking announcement:

Gail "Habitual Liars 'R' Us" Riplinger said:
THE owners and publishers of the corrupt NKJV (New King James Version), Thomas Nelson Publishers, have been bought out by Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp. and their subsidiary HarperCollins, publisher of the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey. Now Murdoch owns the NKJV and the printing rights to the NIV, through Zondervan, which Murdoch bough in 1988! . . . Now, practically every bible published in the U.S is under the control of Murdoch, a purvayer of erotica and the Satanic Bible.

This is a classic point of sophistry with the KJVers, of course: HarperCollins owns Bible Publisher X. HarperCollins owns Avon Books, publisher of The Satanic Bible. Therefore, beware Bibles published by X.

Let's ignore that Zondervan, Avon, and Nelson became subsidiaries of HarperCollins at three different points in history (1988, 1999 and 2011, respectively), and when they began publishing their respective Bibles and "Bibles," they were all independent companies. The only connection between the NKJV or NIV and The Satanic Bible is that their three publishers are now owned by the same conglomerate, and thus their only association is that they are sort of distant cousins.

But let's not let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory, eh The Ripper? The publisher of the NKJV was  bought out 13 years after the publisher of The Satanic Bible, and therefore it must be evil.  Heh. Believe that logic, and I've got a bridge to sell you.

Lord, what fool these KJV-onlyists be!

I wonder if Gail watches FOX News.

I bet she does.

But FOX is owned by Murdoch as well.

If so, then wouldn't that make Gail a sinner and a supporter of the Satanic bible and the porn industry?

Can Gail be that foolish? Maybe.  I can't prove it, but it seems to me she is just trying to stay relevant in her little world.  For money, or for attention, I know not. All imho.

In case GAR forgot, (Or, more likely, DELIBERATELY OVERLOOKED) Harper Collins owns one of the four British copyrights for the KJV. They owned it before the NKJV was made, so that places the KJV deeper in the same boat as the NKJV.

I don't know. I truthfully have NEVER read, listened to, or know very much at all about Gail Riplinger, but I have to agree, she does sound kinda like a nut.

Even when I was KJVO I never wasted any money on Ripplinger's or Ruckman's books, and never wasted time reading them, so all I know about them is what I've heard others say. And judgung by what people say about both of them, I haven't missed anything.
