Seems Marty likes to slice and dice..."In biblical times the 16 year old would have been of age"  so Marty does that make it merely adultery (as if that could ever be a merely) and not unlawful pedophilia of an adult in authority with a juvenile?  You make me sick trying to defend the indefensible.

Marty's point is true but irrelevant. That was then, this is now, and the FBI doesn't go by the laws of biblical times. Schaap is still going to jail, and has proven he doesn't deserve to be a pastor.

With respect to the moral opining of Marty the Library Lothario, I find myself having zero crap to give.

That all depends.
The age of consent is 17 in Illinois (not 16 or 18 as some have thought). All the FBI are doing is investigating whether or not Schaap took the girl to Illinois when she was 16 for sex.

Unless you are an agent on the case, there is no way you could possibly know that is all they are considering. Here are other issues the FBI could consider:

1. Possession of pornography of a minor

2. Failure to report abuse of a minor

This is a multi-tangled web and Marty's attempt to minimize the legal impact is absurd. It makes me wonder what more is going on with Marty.... hmmmm?

Marty, that lying, adulterous ex-pastor, is an @zz.

He seems to be ignoring what Paul said about obeying authorities.

P.S. This thread title is disturbing. :P

P.P.S. Although not as disturbing as the "polished shaft" message by Jack.

A gentleman does not polish his shaft in public.  :-[

I think the second has been taken into consideration. However the first depends on whether the photo was more than just two faces kissing or "making out". If there is sex and even implied nudity then it would definitely be considered pornography. But would he be charged with possession of child pornography? The photo was sent when the deacon picked up the phone. It wasn't as if the photo was there for Schaap to see beforehand.

I'm just going by what the media has reported.

Added note.
I was not aware there was a federal age of consent (18)  which would apply in a case where a minor is transported between states. I thought there was only a minimum legal age where one could be in pornography. If the girl is/was 17 (that's under 18) and Schaap is definitely going to prison if federal law was violated ie if it is proven or Schaap or the secretary confesses that Schaap took the girl to Illinois and had sex with her. The laws are so much more complex in the U.S. In Canada there is only a federal age of consent for non-commercial sexual activity as well a minimum age for prostitution and pornography - it doesn't matter where the minor is transported.

I might agree with you, but I considered that there were innocent people on the ground and I would not wand to think of the result of Marty landing on them!

Careful T-Bone, Tarheel got called out by Marty for bringing his private blog to a public forum over on the FFF.

If it's on the interwebs and not password-protected, it's not a "private" blog.  :)

I welcome Marty to come here and defend the indefensible...he is a self-serving reprobate ...and has spiritual issues that are revealed in the statement made to Jack.  I find it funny that Marty jumps on Tarheel (no pun intended) for talking about Marty's public love-fest with Schaap and how it is a "private" message, when in his "private" message he references another's blog.  No surprise here...hypocrite thy name is Marty!

In Marty's world it is whatever Marty says it is...that's why he had his time with the librarian and is still working with youth.

My understanding... which, since I do not have first hand knowledge, is that there were very incriminating sexual images. But, nevertheless, this is going to be a far reaching issue.

Just a month ago, a man in Illinois was not charged with having sex with a minor but since he had pictures and video of their act, he was charged with that.

This world is a crazy place! Too bad Schaap has not given a statement yet.

Marty's sideways glance and slippery defense of Schaap is the tip of the iceberg. I prophesy that dozens, yea, hundreds of IFBxers will come out and show how Schaap can return to the pulpit.
