Aspergers

Anyone know anyone with this? think it's bunk?

A MFT  and her husband accompanied us recently overnight. She & my wife are convinced I have Aspergers though my wife has brought it up a few times years back.  Dad just informed us I was diagnosed with Autism (Aspergers is a milder form, not probably known back then) by a School Psychologist while in Kindergarten. My parents insisted I always remain in the same class with my twin sister despite then wanting to hold me back.  I was in the Principals office frequently for fighting from Kindergarden-on

The MFT said it took her a while "to see it in me" due to being so social (the main trait is problems socializing) but says she suspected the moment we met. Studies of Fraternal Boy/Girl Twins show the boys are almost always advanced in communication skills.
Seems this "Marketing of Madness" is continuing to spread like wildfire~~except Big Pharma hasn't yet created a drug that cures this "brain disorder". The MFT sent this link to my wife.

Clay Marzo- Surfer with Aspergers - Seems to Work For Him  I see nothing odd about this kid overall, the hair pulling probably isn't good but otherwise....Ironically many of the traits of Aspsergers imho, seem to describe a Christian. I saw the full movie, Just Add Water. He is an AMAZING Surfer!

I know a couple of Asperger's people. It is real, though probably overdiagnosed. And yes, it does have its advantageous side.

I've got a friend with Asperger's. I'm sure the obsessive elements of the syndrome come in handy for him - he's a research assistant. However, having him break into and dominate conversations is a bit awkward. (I like him anyway.)

Curious... are they in a line of work that benefits them?

I've never met an Aspergers person that I know of

When my wife was student teaching around 18 years ago she had two Autistics in class. One had TWO amazing talents. He put puzzles together faster than anyone I'd ever seen...I'd just touch a piece and he'd say NO loudly... which meant it doesn't belong there.
He would blurt out.. even to strangers, "What is your birthday?" Then they'd look at me (or my wife) cause he looked normal, handsome actually but spoke kinda like a retard. Then I'd say he's Autistic, they'd say he's what?? He's Artistic???
Many omitted their birth year first go around. Then he'd reply something like "You were born on a Saturday"  I'd say "Yes that is true, you were. He's autistic, he's always right." They'd just stare...I'd keep a few very old calendars in the car from decades ago. Some would quiz him. He drew some huge crowds..we often took him out to eat at the Pizza Parlour.

Does he do that with different subjects or with just one topic? they say most have one subject they've perfected, researched to the core and learned. Can't imagine others aren't interested in it.
Speaking of uninterested, I am not allowed to talk about chickens

I don't know that he was ever diagnosed with it, but I've always suspected Bobby Fischer had Asperger's. (I've followed his career and his games. I am a serious chess player, or was.)

One is an uncle of a friend. He's an engineer and very good at it, though socially kind of disconnected. Like Dilbert in the comic strip.

The other is a poster I know from other forums. I don't remember what he does for a living. But he is incredibly analytical and precise, and one of the smartest people I know, though more than a little obsessive.

Both have been formally diagnosed with Asperger's.
