She's more than just an x-ifb. She no longer professes to be a Christian. Her daddy wasn't able to win her soul.

Is that a fact? I understand her beliefs aren't quite orthodox but I have not heard that specifically.

Whatever she believes she's not pointing people to Christ in any way - she doesn't even mention the name Jesus - which is highly unusual even for a skeptic. She quotes people that are quite non-Christian/anti-Christian (e.g. Voltaire) even if the quotes are good.

This is not to be critical of Linda. She just happened to be born into a family that even if they faithfully taught the word of God they didn't always live it in a manner that would be convincing to her - she didn't see Jesus. She probably thought that Christianity could only be found at that church. A true Christian would seek another church, one that is Biblical in doctrine and is living the Christian life according the Bible not self-righteously but in the power of the Holy Spirit.

By no means am I saying she's an agnostic or atheist. This doesn't sound like one any ways. It's more like an Oprah thing.

Well, it is true that the introduction to the web page is done by an unbeliever. He says that he does not identify as a Christian.  However, I have no problem with her writing an expose of her time among the FBCH crowd, and I think she has a lot to say that you can not hear naywhere else. I would like to get a copy.

With respect, this is one thing I think we really need to be careful of. Linda doesn't seem to claim anywhere she is no longer a Christian. And the guy who wrote an introduction to the website doesn't make that claim either. He says that with Linda telling her story he was freed from Jack Hyle's "life-crushing religion". I have no problem with that as I see some of the same thing.

He goes on to write, "May the readers find release, happiness and freedom, as Linda and I and many others have found, as we embrace our own truths, rather than the false teachings of people who would place their bonds upon our spirits and our lives."

That statement, as ridiculous as it is, I wouldn't take it necessarily as "I reject Christ or Christianity". It could just as easily mean "I have chosen to interpret the Bible the way I read it (my truths) instead of the way Jack Hyles forced it on me".  I believe for whatever reason they are hurting individuals and that can cause irrational thinking and statements.

As for quotes on her site there are quotes and books from some really good people and then some others I certainly do not agree with. I honestly don't know enough of Kierkegaard to have an opinion but I trust your assessment Brianb. However, his quote on the site is a good one, no matter what else he has to say. No doubt many of the quotes we say each day came from good and not so good people. I don't like the fact that there is a book from Ekhart Tolle for sure.

I know neither brianb or Torrent have bad motives at all but we all need to be careful with serious claims we make about others. (It's just always been a pet peeve of mine. Something to do with "scrupulosity" I think.  ;))

I said he is an unbeliever because he is a friend of mine and he says publicly that he does not claim to be a Christian.

Well THAT sheds a different light on it.  LOL  But the point remains the same. Especially for me.  :)

I totally understand why you said what you said.

If Linda is/was an unbeliever, never went to church a day in her life or an overt atheist, she has more credibility than he father or BIL ever had.  At least she is not a sexual pervert, as far as we know and it is highly doubtful she could lie as often.
