I think the statements made are probably true for many, but they are secondary (or further) issues. I find the bigger lies are about meta-worldview and less specific to one particular soundbite.

Truth leads to recursion...but the gist of the article represents the so called cutting edge questions of today's evangelicalism.

Right...I just think all of those questions stem from a fundamental difference in worldview between humanity and God that we are all guilty of, although hopefully part of the continual transformation we Christians are being subject to is including our misguided worldview. In the case of these particular questions (specifically 1-3,6-10 in this case), the error in worldview is elevating the individual above the community. (It would be equally erroneous to elevate the community above the individuals.)

I'm not sure I understand your intended point....probably my fault.
Could you elaborate?
The community is made up of individuals 'working together for a/the common cause, isn't it?

I'm saying they are (I am) asking the wrong questions because they are (I am) looking at things through the wrong filters. Even if they (I) ultimately end up getting these questions right, they (I) will get the next ones wrong...unless they (I) change the filter by which they are seeing things. The root problem isn't the questions, but the filters. (This is why I said the questions were secondary issues, not primary ones.)

The individual/societal example was just one example of the wrong filters that we often see things through.

The Lies We Believe About Our World

*If everybody’s doing it, it must be okay. The more culturally unique our theology is, the more we must need to change our theology.

*Evangelism is so passé. Work for social justice, but give up on proselytism. It’s not the heart of changing the world.

The Lies We Believe About the Bible

*It’s so full of contradictions and errors, there’s no way it can be trusted.

*You can interpret the Bible any way you want.

From the article, I believe these two go together.....
