Across state lines into Illinois...wow that's^^^ some calculated pre-planing if true. Here's the law

(f) The accused commits aggravated criminal sexual abuse if he or she commits an act of sexual conduct with a victim who was at least 13 years of age but under 18 years of age when the act was committed and the accused was 17 years of age or over and held a position of trust, authority or supervision in relation to the victim.

If true, Schaap committed the crime of Aggravated criminal sexual abuse. This is a Class 2 felony Whether or not he'll do the time, or even be charged, is another matter.
It seems his only defense would be to say he didn't know her age.

Illinois law reads to possibly avoid incarceration, he'd need to consent to being evaluated as a Sex Offender and undergo treatment. Probation would probably include sporting a bracet. My guess is there will be no charges filed by Indiana, the Feds, or the State of Illinois. The Feds seem to be saying they will only go forward if Indiana is also investigating with intent to prosecute. That's a Hillbilly backwards State  :-\ can't see them prosecuting him. Either way, I hope he's financially set because it will be interesting to see where he plans on working next. Not sure how effective his Kawledge degree is, maybe it's different in Indiana. Hopefully his wife is supporting the victim, at the very least, profusely apologizing since she turned a blind eye. Sexualizing children via Youth conferences while he polishes his shaft, she had to have known he was dangerous. Hopefully eyes will be opened and Gods grace will bring many to salvation.

Why would the Feds care if Indiana is investigating with intent to prosecute?  They will prosecute the case if the evidence is there, in my opinion.  At least I hope they do.  Not because I have anything against Schaap as I don't know him, nor did I know Jack Hyles or ever hear either one preach except recently on the internet.  The victim deserves justice, and there needs to me a message sent that these types of crimes will not be covered up or swept under the rug any more.  This type of thing has been going on too long.

Wise post. ...I got that impression from the link included, here's a portion of it.

"The U.S. attorney's office in Hammond is the final decision-maker in terms of filing charges, and there is consultation with them as we go forward. It's an ongoing process," Ramsey said.

Patti Van Til, a spokeswoman for the Lake County Sheriff's Department, said Tuesday there is no new development to announce in her department's parallel investigation of Schaap.

Hopefully they will prosecute not only Schapp but his wife, fellow Elders, ALL those mandatory reporters who knew about the abuse and did not file a CPS report. Anyone who drove youth across State lines to deliver them to their demise. When Schapp was moaning during his mock masturbation routine (Polish your Shaft sermon) at youth conference, I wonder how many adults took charge to usher the children out of the auditorium? My guess is it's such a cesspool no one cared to do a thing. We've probably only seen the tip of the iceburg pertaining to number of victims. Most of his sexualized sermons were probably not audio/video taped

A week ago or so, late at night there was a button you were to click it if you were a victim of Schapp. Can't recall how it was worded.... I quickly took a screen shot and sent it to the FBI. The church is trying to thwart the investigation. About 5 minutes later it was removed, as expected. Even Schapps attorney Gibbs rerquests access to the victim(s) despite being paid to protect the interests of his Client. He even claims to be doing his own investigation. What a tangled web they weave.... ::)
