the local news..led by climate change activists.... are going crazy today.... and trying to convince everyone else on the island to go crazy too - over the fact that today at 3 pm and for the next few days around the same time ... we will have the highest tides of the year.... .. roughly 2 and a half feet above even..... they say we should all be alarmed and "take precautions" because tide water will up into the streets in places like waikiki.... ...it;s all supposed to be due to climate change and a forwarning of what will become worse if donald trump gets elected.... the oceans will rise and this island will go underwater....

the weather map online today even has these island painted purple indicating a dangerous flood alert.....
well.... i and many others happen to know that the tides here always go over the 2 and a half foot mark during king tides.... and during those times water always comes up into the streets in waikiki.. .. .. we use to go to those places when we were kids
... wade around and play in that water catching little fish that swam up into the street with it... and putting them in a jar.... ...... that was in the mid 1990s..... and old people we met there then said it was like that when they were kids too......
i have a set of maritime weather instruments on one wall..... all weems and plath and salvaged from an old boat..... 2 of them are clocks .... one tide clock and another a ships bell clock... ... i have the bell clock chime switched on... so when it strikes 6 bells today.... ( 3 in the afternoon)... i probably wont be down there barefoot wading in the water with the local waikiki kids... ... but i will be thinking about them.....
