...where my baby girl took the bronze medal in the women's age 18-34 +68kg USANKF karate nationals. This earned her the position of 1st alternate on the U.S. Karate Team. She has been suffering from a back injury the past three months and sprained her ankle a week before the competition so she was only at about 75%. Her coach and I made the decision to pull her from the Open Weight Div. after her first fight. She took an elbow to the bad ankle and it just wasn't worth the risk. She wasn't happy but we told her that she already had her medal and had nothing to prove to anybody.
