If I remember correctly he was from California (San Diego??).  He spoke at HAC in the early '80s.

Jim Baize pastored Midway Baptist Church in Imperial Beach, CA (a southern suburb of San Diego) from 1973 until his retirement in 2015.

He was affiliated with the Baptist Bible Fellowship and attended Baptist Bible College of Springfield, Mo.

Midway ran as high as 3000 on Sunday morning. They changed the name of the church to Ocean View Church some time ago.

Baize had Jack Hyles in to preach several times, but distanced himself from Hyles after all the problems surfaced.

Jim is a good guy, a good pastor, and able to think for himself.

I was preaching in Hawaii in the late 80's at a BBF church one Sunday morning. Jim & his wife walked in (they were on vacation). The pastor & his wife,  my wife & I and Jim & his wife all went out to eat at a local steakhouse afterwards. Seemed like a good guy. We did a lot of laughing.
