Just when I think things are changing around here, there always seems to be a little something to remind me old ways are pretty deeply ingrained.

Just saw a post on FB about Spirit Week at HB schools. The first day, Monday, was Sports Day, and someone posted a picture of their child dressed in a sports outfit. Cute, lots of likes. Someone else asked what the other days of Spirit Week will be.  The answer:

Old Person Day, 50's Day, Dress Like The Wilkersons Day, and HB Blue Day.

How does one "Dress like the Wilkersons"? And who thought of that odd tribute of celebration? smh

I suppose it is better than the pajama day they typically have in the public schools' spirit week...

I have to ask myself the same thing.  Do you think it is in jest and they may be using it to poke fun in some way?

I don't know, but most of the Wilkerson children (except the oldest who is at college and the youngest who is not school age) are at HB schools. Imagine having a day where everyone is supposed to 'dress like' them? Embarrassing. One likes to think it is 'all in good fun', but I am imagining that for the W kids, it is just odd.

Probably so.  I thought maybe the Wilkerson's were some kind of sport's fans or had some kind of hobbies and the kids would have a good time mimicking them.  It is odd.

No, everybody is gonna rock the sweater vest that day.

Break out the felt poodles, and pin em on your full skirts, gals.

JW is like 6'4". I would have a hard time fitting into his clothes. :)

Well, IMO this will tell anyone if he will bring change.  I'm sure he has the power to have a meeting and explain that he does not think this is best.

I just saw a post on a face book page. The little kids were dressed in suits and ties and they had their hair colored silver. The mother exclaimed over how excited they were to be going to school and look just like 'him'.

I chuckled when I thought of our church having a dress like or look like me day. They would have to chop 1 foot off of each person shave off their head and add a little pot belly. ???

Pardon me for asking. I don't want to sound insensitive, but my curiosity is killing me . . .

Is that the right or the left foot?  :o

Good thing the Pittsburg phonebook is so thick, or you wouldn't be able to drive.

Wouldn't it be much better to have a day when the children dress like, mom or dad?

Now that could be frightening in some cases!  especially for Raider's children!

If you bring enough visitors, maybe you could win his tie!  8)

I can't say that I agree with any of this however why hasn't anyone gotten upset or shaken their head at the fact that they had sports day where kids were wearing uniforms with professional athletes who are unsaved, adulterers, drunks. SMH

I am not sure, but I would suspect by "Sports Heroes" Day, they were allowed to dress as All-American Football player Joe Boyd or someone such as he.
