Is Edward Snowden a hero or a traitor?

Traitor, by definition...but he also exposed other traitors to the Constitution.

I keep reading that he should have blown the whistle internally, instead.  But the current government is so thoroughly corrupt that blowing the whistle internally is likely to get you silenced, demoted, or even killed.  About the only way to make sure a scandal gets attention is to go public.

Whether he is a traitor I do not yet know.

What is clear is that he is a blasphemer-- one who has dared have the audacity to cast aspersion on the great god of our all-knowing, all-seeing Civil Government.

Federal Government.  All hail Big Brother.

Hero!!! Just like Washington and Hancock. If I were him I'd be securing lists of CIA  agents the world over with persons unknown.  I'd tell the feds that as long as I stay alive and out of jail those lists will be secure. If anything happens to me or I get arrested the world will know of their whole operations.

I do like the way Greenwald (that's his name, right?) is releasing the information.  He's doing it in dribs and drabs, just like Breitbart used to do.  It's a very effective way to shame the liberal media, which desperately tries to play down the significance.  I think that will prove to be true as we get more of the story.

It's my understanding "ALL" members of the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hold TOP SECRET LEVEL SECURITY CLEARENCES and have the responsibility to oversee the actions of the NSA & CIA. Any whistle blower disclosures should have been made to them.

I agree the actions of the NSA are an overreach of authority, but it’s up to the bipartisan oversight committee and the courts to make that call not an employee or contractor.

It is my understanding that the level of corruption in our government has such far reaching implications that going through proper channels probably would have been fruitless.  But, hey, if you really trust them that much, then more power to you.  Me?  I am probably not that optimistic.
