I'm out of a job

Absolutely will.
If you PM me your first name, I would appreciate it.
I feel strange praying, Dear Lord, please give the Tomato a job.

Sorry for you.  I have suffered through that situation in the not to distant past.

No worries about first names - our family has been praying for "The Sherryh Family" for quite a while.  We can just add a "friend" of dad's named RT to our family prayers.

Tomato I can totally understand... I just had kaba do my resume.. hit the job fairs... my prayers are with you...right here at Christmas time but we have an opportunity to watch the Lord shine through our lives...

good point.... because randomly asking to give a tomato a job could result in ketchup......  ;)
:D

As we reflect on the blessings & challenges of last year ... and the prospects and resolutions for the New Year ... it is a good time to remember in prayer those searching for work ... and in need of prayer.  My prayers today are for you!

Dude, you find work yet?

Anishinabe

Thank you for praying I have part time work.

I'm looking for an update on how you're doing?

Thanks for asking!  I got a contract job (6 months with possible extension) in Round Rock, TX.  I had to move to take the job, and it was hard on the pocketbook and really difficult to find an apartment... but that's another story (I'm falsely accused of being evicted from my house that foreclosed in 2011, even though I can prove I moved out of the house 14 months before they say I was evicted).

It's very stressful knowing that my job could go away at any time, but I'm thankful for every day I have work.

The people at the new job are really nice, and they're closer to my age, which means we get each others' jokes.  Round Rock is a very nice place to live.  I don't hate Texas as much I used to, now.  Sorry to any San Antonio fans out there, but I thought San Antonio was a really awful place to live.

Thank you all again for praying.  This time I have a big praise God to share.

Right now I'm still on a 6 month contract, but the company likes my work so much, the president of the company is now talking about buying out my contract prematurely in order to make me a permanent employee.

There's still a possibility of letting the 6 month contract run its course, but there's actually a flattering reason for that.  So far, multiple customers have praised my work, and my employer wants me to keep them happy by continuing to produce work for all of them.  As long as I'm a contractor, I can do that.  I can work on multiple projects for customers who compete with each other.

Once I'm permanent, I have to be assigned to one customer. Why?  I can't reveal our customers, so to use a fake example as an illustration, their policy is that if we had JC Penny as our primary customer, then once I'm permanent, I have to become a sub-employee of JC Penney in order to get direct access to JC Penney resources.  JC Penny would provide me with a special computer and a secure way to talk to JC Penny's computers.  At that point, I couldn't do any work for Macy's or Target, etc., because I'd be doing it largely on JC Penny's dime.  And JC Penny wouldn't want me to use their resources to help their competitors.

Anyway, combine this with the fact that I really enjoy living in Round Rock so far, this turned out to be a huge blessing for me and my family.  We'll still have a lot of financial problems which will take two or three years to resolve, and I'll never be able to retire, but that's just life.  We'll just have to walk by faith on that.
