I love Jesus but hate religion.....

Glad to see you quoted George Bernard Shaw in your tagline. Here is another quote he has about Paul:

http://www.thefullwiki.org/Preface_to_Androcles_and_the_Lion/Secret_of_Paul's_Success

"It is now easy to understand why the Christianity of Jesus failed completely to establish itself politically and socially, and was easily suppressed by the police and the Church, whilst Paulinism overran the whole western civilized world, which was at that time the Roman Empire, and was adopted by it as its official faith, the old avenging gods falling helplessly before the new Redeemer. It still retains, as we may see in Africa, its power of bringing to simple people a message of hope and consolation that no other religion offers. But this enchantment is produced by its spurious association with the personal charm of Jesus, and exists only for untrained minds."

Shaw was a so called 'involuntary atheist, and a socialist....hardly someone who's qualified to be a spiritual or political guru.
His quote in my sig was given as a random act of intellectual honesty.  :)

I've got no argument with that. But then who's to say who IS qualified to be such a guru? And who is to say that the other quote was not another "random act of intellectual honesty" from Shaw? Or is such "intellectual honesty" based on how you (or I, for that matter) perceive it? :)

What a bunch of hooey. The very fact Paul's writings have long been canonical in EVERY Christian canon since the fourth century.... proves Shaw a moron. The lasting legacy of Pauline teachings in the Catholic church, the Protestant church, the Greek Orthodox church, and etc shows you're out of the main stream Smellin..... Surely you don't believe this nonsense do you? Ever heard of the "Roman's road" SM? How did you hear of it? Is the phrase "Roman's road" a result of social influence?

I'm out of the mainstream? Good thing if true. So is God's Law:

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

The good news is that we dont need a guru....God gave us His Word and the priesthood of every believer!

The quote in my sig line is true because its true, no matter your politics.
The policies of the Obama administration have been used often...most recently in the USSR, Cuba and North Korea.
Now all of the former Peters share poverty with the Paul's....

"If you do this, then you will be true sons of your Father in heaven. Your Father lets the sun rise for the good people and the bad people. Your Father sends rain to people that do good and to people that do wrong. If you love only the people that love you, then you will get no reward. Even the tax collectors do that. And if you are nice only to your friends, then you are no better than other people. Even the people without God are nice to their friends. So you must be perfect, the same as your Father in heaven is perfect."

I really didn't have you in mind, Dan...wasn't expecting you to be here.
Just pointing out that we are on the road to apostasy, sadly.
But, it seems to be in basic agreement with you....

Good advice. In like manner, consider Paul's advice....

2Ti 2:25  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
