Walking among you.
This morning I was sitting in church talking to someone who doesn't know me well or that I am 35 years removed from HAC. I mention that I had been in the in the ministry and at preached in the town in which he grew up.

He did a double take and asked about me being in the ministry. He asked me if I had a theology degree wanted to know where I had gone to get my Bible training.

I replied that I I graduated from a school that at the time had run over 2000 students but now is down to about 400 in Northwest Indiana.

He then looked at me and said isn't that where Jack H was? He said, "By the look on your face I could tell that must be where you went. He said I think I just pulled a rabbit out of a hat."

I replied that most people don't figure that out by such a vague reference. He then quoted the title of a few books by JH that he has and asked, "What happened to JH?"

So here's my question to the forum, How would you have answered that question in the five minutes left before the service began?

He continued pastoring until he died. Along the way he reached a lot of people, and taught a lot of people. Some of what he taught was good and some of what he taught was bad. In the end his ministry was marked by pride, and that is very sad. Some people think he was awesome; some people think he was rotten. But the Lord knows how to sift us all at the judgment, and He will determine the good and the bad of the man's ministry. In the meanwhile, read his books, but do so cautiously. And if you want to talk about it in more depth I'll be happy to buy you a cup of coffee.

I'd say it's a long, long story.

"He died".
Or, you could be more gracious, and say "he went home", etc.
