How Many Staff Will Go?

I wouldn't be shocked to see them all leave........the good old boy club doesn't exist with this new pastor....it's just my opinion.

If someone does decide to stay their way of doing things will change...

As I have said on the other forum, every Bible teacher should get the ax, every manager or person that regularly met with Schaap should also be receiving a pink slip. That would be a good start.

qwerty, you're correct.......what will Eddie Lapina do? he's been there his whole life...............

A new president gets to have 'new' white house staff. I think this would also be appropriate in this situation. It would even better, if each current member of the pastoral staff submitted a resignation. That is not an uncommon courtesy with new leadership. The new pastor would then accept the resignations, or re-interview for open positions. I also believe a similar process should be followed with the deacon board.

I must add to my earlier post:

I do not believe in establishing a new unaccountable dictatorship. The church body should have major role in the selection of key staff members and deacons. Perhaps more than a "yes/no" after a Wednesday service.

I wonder if anybody else has any ideas...?

I really don't know. He is a smart guy with regards to finances, so he could probably do something along those lines. There are many churches that would be interested in him as an employee or as a conference speaker.

I like Eddie,  he is a good person and a great friend. For the overall good of the ministry though , anyone that was close to Schaap should go. From the first Sunday when this came to light, the wheels were in motion to protect Schaap and the church; and he was the one behind the pulpit that morning driving the bus.

What I think is interesting about retaining/firing top level staff is the quandary in the decision for him. If he fires them all he angers a number of his people who love those staff very much. He also brings a certain amount of disarray to the running of his new church at the very beginning. OTOH, if he fires them all he goes a long way toward earning the trust of a whole lot of IFB's around the country, and eventually another look @ HAC for their young people. IOW, he risks credibility with the people in his new church but he gains it around the country. He could also conceivably call them in one by one and tell them to start looking for a new ministry position without necessarily firing them. That might be a softer way of doing it. I wonder what he will do...

...and FTR, I completely agree with Qwerty. They ought to be fired. Either they were too gutless to stand up to wickedness or too spiritually stupid to notice it, and in either one of those cases you don't want them working for you. That doesn't mean they can't be useful in ministry somewhere else, but it does mean their right/privilege to serve where they are at now is done.

In my experience, when a new lead or senior Pastor comes, there is almost always a huge turnover in the staff! I wouldn't be surprised if the turnover doesn't begin almost immediately after Pastor Wilkerson assumes the office in February. I agree that at the least, anyone who was a direct report to Schaap should go. Anyone who knew of Schaaps immorality should already be gone! The place needs a complete, extreme house cleaning. Loyalty and seniority should not be considered....

I am excited for FBCH. I have heard of Br. Wilkerson but never heard him preach until a few weeks ago on FBCH YouTube channel. Very good teacher/preacher. He's not bombastic as Schaap which will def. be good for the church to have a pastor who will love them and help them heal and move on. Lord willing the best days are still ahead for the church.

Traditionally, as was done when Jack Hyles passed away, the church staff all submit their resignations when a new pastor takes over. Jack Schaap did not accept anyone's resignation when he tool over and everyone kept their jobs. That should be how it is done and this new pastor can choose to accept or reject each staff member's resignation.

It may go like that but time will tell we shall see..........

I remember several staff members relaying to me that they had submitted letters of resignation to Jack Schaap. I asked why and they said it was the proper thing to do when a new man comes in and takes over a church.

Both of my friends that was employed at FBC are not there now ...........my husband just ask for them and he was told they are no longer there...

Oops, guess I forgot to send jack my resignation letter when he took over....

Interesting to look at this in hindsight.... Not sure exactly how it all happened, but it seems like many of "Schaap's men" are gone...

However, the old timers who were hired by and served for many years with Dr. Hyles seem to be mostly here

It is very interesting; it also seems to reflect the old-school IFB idea of "it's only sinful if you get caught"
