Highland Park is No Baptist...No More!

If they no longer identify with the Baptist faith, then they might as well remove the name. Buh-bye.

Being from the area, I found it sad that they abandoned their inner-city property and moved out. I wish they had embraced their community and made a difference, but they always seemed more inclined to protect themselves from their neighbors instead of inviting them in.

Having said that, a lot of Baptist churches around here have dropped Baptist from their name. Apparently they feel it is a hindrance more than a help.

Dr. Lee Roberson preached at our church two months ago.

That's right.

Every other Sunday night this year, we are having "voices from the past" services.  I want our young families and teens to hear some of the great men of the last generation.  So, via DVD, we were blessed to see and hear him preach a sermon entitled, "How to Have a Good Church".

What a blessing!  Glad he is not here to see what a bunch of turn-coat, liberals have turned HPBC into.

Didn't HP re-model their old auditorium not long ago? I thought that was an indication that they were committed to ministry in the old location.
Wonder what happened to change their plans?

Churches everywhere are eschewing labels, it seems.
Today church names are summit, mosaic, renegade, awestruck.....

I'm sure Roberson was a great man, but I personally didn't care for his preaching when he was alive.
His idea of compromise was moving the evening service from 7:30 to 6:00 PM.

I don't think this church is liberal, just moving from Highland Park and a 1961 ministry model.  :)

They re-modeled a few years ago. Don't remember when, exactly. I believe it was before the separation of the college and the church, and the fiasco with Danny Lovett.
