CENTRAL, Ind. (AP) — A spokesman for a northwest Indiana church says 31 female Hammond Baptist Schools students were injured when a bus rolled on its side on a road in the southern part of the state, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.
First Baptist Church of Hammond Administrative Pastor Eddie Lapina said that a girl with a possible broken arm was brought by helicopter to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, and two more were taken there by ambulance. All three were in fair condition.
The remaining 28 students were taken to Harrison County Hospital in stable condition.
The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. in Central, about 25 miles southwest of Louisville. Lapina says the students were headed to a school retreat.
