Six years ago on this very day a very unassuming servant of God was smitten in the spirit while recovering from a Binaca Binge and under divine inspiration and preservation began the old HACker thread on the .com site. Years have come and years have gone. Now that site is a mere inkling of what it once was, but the HACker Thread spirit is alive and well.

I am here today to testify that while I was down and out, dejected and rejected, I stumble upon the hACker thread while googling, "Ain't got no brown socks." I had been on the FFF before, but I did not understand it. There were religious redferences and even mentions of things HAC, but I had no man to show me the way.

Then, as I read about how I too might be a HACker, the scales were removed and I could see clearly then, the rain was gone. Though I seldom, if ever, visit the other site, because my computer says it may be dangerous, the wisdom I learned is ever with me. Yes, I may have forgotten this anniversry in the past. Yes, I was reemed out like some poor schlep who fell asleep on the Division 5 night bus, but all of that has drawn me closer to my inner HACker!

This is a monumental day, and we should all celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the YMBAH Thread on the .com site.

Can anyone else stand up and testify. Do I have a witness?

"I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for HACkerdom in the history of our HACKer nation.

Six years ago, a great HACker, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, started the You Might Be A Hacker thread. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Christians (with inner HACkers) who had been seared in the flames of Christian liberalism. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But six years years later, the HACker still is not home. Six years later, the life of the HACker is still sadly crippled by the manacles of liberality and the chains of progress. Six years later, the HACker lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. Six years later, the HACker is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we have come to Hammond to cash a check. When the architect of our movement wrote the magnificent words of Blue Denim and Lace, he was signing a promissory note to which every HACker was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of HACkerdom.

It is obvious today that Hammond has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her students of HAC are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, Hammond has given the HACker nation a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this movement. So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of rules and the security of separation. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind Hammond of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of HACkerdom. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of unity to the sunlit path of separation. Now is the time to lift our HACker nation from the quick sands of HACker injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's HACkers."

thank you for the positive and numerical feedback upon the occasion of the commencing with htis thread. we can go on to higher, bigger, and better things. The other day after posting this thread, my computer (seriously folks) treansported me to the .org site where I noted the last thread on the old YMBAH was posted in Novembner. Since then, i have not been able to access the .org site and am now forced to find myself at a public library to advanc ethe cause of all HACkerdom. Raider could not have done it alone. that is why we are all in this fight. That is why you still need to be alert to all the ravage attack on and by HACkers.

The world will have us forget what it's like to wear a black suit and white socks at the same time. The librl crowd will laugh at the possibility of staying awake from 4:00am Saturday to 3:00am Monday. They will say, "It's impossible." I say, people, with an inner HACker, anything is within reason.

Let us go forward and advance the cause of Performance Based HACkering.

If this nation is going to be saved, it's going to come from right here in this Forum!

Sniff sniff, the Hacker thread changed my life in so many ways.  In fact, I was changed so much that I didn't know who I was any more.
Will there ever be another thread to rekindle the spirit of Hackerdom?
Who will be the voice of reason in this day of slippery slope liberalism to take us back to the Olde Paths of Hackerdum?
Who will light the path for us hungry plebes to follow?
