Captains Quarters would do a lot of business on the days of short chapel messages.

What about the Mug n Brush at Austin and Rt. 30?

And I wonder whatever became of Alan Sweezey who worked at Capn's Quarters for years?

I've thought about Alan a time or two. Never knew what happened to him.

I don't remember Mug n Brush for some reason. There was Bob's Barber Shop on Joliet Street about where Austin intersected. Bob Grisham was the barber there. He was the town councilman who, ummm, had some issues with the law and then his lawyer disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Nothing HAC-related though. Might be the same place with a different proprietor.

Everyone pretended not to hear as freshman Joe Baker told the barber, "Make sure you give me a tapered cut".

For most classes at HAC students prepared by bringing their Bibles to class.  For Brother Laurent's class preparation included a trip to the barbershop.

Everyone ignored Barber Joe as he told the story of shaving Teri's armpits.

I believe Alan even attended HAC for a season or two.

Mug n Brush was at Austin & Rt 30 and run by a man named Joe Hagar I believe, who had kids or relatives of some kind in the schools at some point as well. Ring a bell?

Yeah, I remember him. Now it comes back to me. His uncle was Bob the Butcher (Bob's Barber Shop) and he took it over, IIRC.

Man, did that jar a memory!

Alan DID attend HAC for couple semesters.  He got married and moved away.

Wait, I remember Bob's over by Voyle's office...but are you relating the 2 (Bob's and the Mug n Brush/Hagar)?

I'm confused a little, but it's not the first time for that to happen...

I believe so. Bob Gresham was his name, IIRC. Big guy with a beard...

Maybe I'm wrong about him being related to Hager but for some reason that stuck in my memory bank. It stinks approaching 50... :)

I think Voyle would be a huge help in clearing this up, too bad he's not around anymore on the forum!

He was known as browsing on another form of the FFF. Not sure I've seen him on this version...

Care to share?  I got my first haircut from Bob.  I always appreciated the "Pal" bubble gum after the haircut.

Have to be careful so as to speak in legalese even though it was about 25 years ago. :)

I wasn't aware of the inner details but did have knowledge that something suspicious went on.

When I worked for the Schererville Police Department, there was a call about a domestic dispute/shooting (at property, not people) in which he was allegedly involved. Then allegedly, records at the police station regarding the entire situation disappeared and soon thereafter, his lawyer disappeared as well. (IIRC, the NWI Times thought his lawyer moved to Greece but they were suspicious.) It was said that after the incident, he himself moved out of town, quitting his position on the Town Council. Allegedly. There was also a shakeup in the position of Police Chief around the same time as well but it was unclear if the two situations were related. :)

He was always a nice guy as far as I could tell and this was the only questionable incident I am aware of.

Interesting.  Makes no sense why his own lawyer would disappear.

If I remember correctly, the lawyer represented the town as well which is what red flagged with the Times. :)
