Wish they made other versions as I have bought some of their bibles and they rival any premium bible out there for about a third of the cost.  I have a plain jane KJV with no notes or ccr, only maps and the KJV translator notes to the readers.  It has red edges, hand stitched, first page glued to cover for spine preservation, smyth sewn, cowhide leather.  Cost me $25 bucks and I will pass it down as it will last more than a lifetime.  Their top grain cowhide and ironed calfskin are very soft.  They have one lambskin that is also soft.  the lambskin is the most expensive at $65.  It is a 400 anniversary KJV edition with the Scolfield format with the ccr taken out and the notes at the bottom take out.  You can make it your own study bible by adding your references and notes.  It has the raise hubs (as do others) and could easily cost 180 bucks or more.

Good to know!  8)

But I don't like to be limited to just one translation when shopping for Bibles.

And IF you have the money to spare, nobody can beat R.L. Allan & Sons of Scotland for quality. So far as the KJV, Cambridge and Oxford had the exclusive royal copyright. But Oxford relinquished it and the Queen has passed it on to Allan now.

EvangelicalBible.com is one of my favorite online stores, and that's where I bought my Cambridge Pitt Minion ESV. They carry Allan too, the only US store that does.

Izdaari's correct;
Allan's bindings are notably better than either Local Church's or the Trinitarian Bible Society's.

If you appreciate really good quality Bible bindings and covers, you can't do better nowadays than R.L. Allan, though decades ago both the Oxford and Cambridge presses made certain high-end bindings that even beat any of Allan's current offerings, with pinseal leathers, and both front and rear overcasting. Those days are gone forever, though; even the "best" isn't truly so, just better than whatever else is currently available.  :'(

I don't have a R.L. Allan, but saw the one they had with the blue gilded edges advertised online.  It looked exquisite, but cost $190.  I have had people that owned both tell me that Local Church rivaled them, but since I don't own one, I can't speak from experience.  I have several leather bibles, and the Local Church Lambskin is far and away the best I've owned.

When I was KJVO I didn't buy into the PCE thing, I believed that any KJV was good enough.

Most KJVO types would agree that ANY KJV Bible is better than ANY non-KJV Bible, but the real KJVO cognoscenti (now there's an oxymoron) know that the "PCE" is the best and only truly perfect edition of the KJV.    :-*

Thanks for the info.

I recently bought a gorgeous Holman genuine leather burgundy King James bible from an ebay seller for 30 dollars delivered. It is a hand-sized Giant Print. I would love to find the same thing with a thumb index but I can't find that anywhere.
