Just an FYI, and I will help if i can...

If any of you suspect your part American Indian, the opportune time to be certified is now thru IHS http://www.ihs.gov/ and you will not pay cost sharing/or co pays. Later you may be required to belong to a Federal Tribe and that is difficult since many own Casinos and won't share the money so will deny you, even if you prove your ancestry. Most belong to tribes not Federally recognized by the Federal Gov't

To just use IHSS Services (which is all I've done) apparently you still must file an income tax or you will be fined $695 at some point. Unless your already in then it may be different.

To be certified Native American, you must be able to show that your grandparents, GG Grandparents, or GGG Grandparents are on the Dawes Rolls. Or other important indian rolls depending upon race of indian. Using birth/death certificates when available.

If you think someone is a relative of yours, then I can look them up and give you there info. They are dead anyway. And you not need acknowledge your own name or how you are part of their family. Privacy can remain intact, as it should.

I was happy to learn I was .25% Cherokee at first but later learned much more. my Moms real father, my real grandpa is full Osage so I guess I am .25% Norwegian and .75% indian. We proved Dad was full indian then he finally admitted the truth that he is. That is why his family has that long black hair, olive skin. Why my son has darker olive skin though we are light skinned, blonde haired.  My Mom was half Norwegian & Half Osage Indian.

Hello Brother!  :D

What kind of Indian are you?
There are different rolls for different tribes w/different requirements.

t never hurts to apply to a Federal Tribe if you learn you may qualify due to ancestry.

RIght now, No co pays for anything on site at the Medical Clinic (which is an advanced clinic really)but you pay for perscriptions at their pharmacy. They do not mark up drugs so they are very reasonable.

when Obamacare comes into effect, you'd not pay anything for drugs, or anything at all. (unless you opt of Obamacare which you can... if you are certified Indian with IHS)

The link below shows what is available. Click the service button at the top of the page.

This clinic approach things with a Hollistic bent, very educated upon nutrition. Less leaning towards drugs.
My guess is most Clinics ran by IHS are this way. Best medical care I've ever had, blows away Health Net, Blue Shield and Kaisr.

Here is the Obamacare Calculator

For the white folks

If you're very poor, and the State does not expand Medicaid to the poor... then you will not be able to afford insurance via Obamacare. MY guess is that won't occur but it's still screwed up because the Safety net drops out. By 2020, it will have worked up the poorest paying 10% of the cost. Right now the monthly plans are about $375-$400 so that is $30-40 per month. Very difficult for someone working two days a week at minimum wage which is about $520 per month/$6000 per yr

Try the calculator by typing in $6000 per year.

But it goes up for the poor. by 2020 the poor will pay about 10% of their income. So if you have no income, you have no medical insurance.

Average monthly plan cost estimates given are $ 350-400 per month. So....$40 to $50 per month is 10% for for someone who grosses $520 per month. Minimum wage has not risen with cost of living

Most or all Obamacare plans have a $250 deductible before anything kicks in. Not on Medicaid though, or at least for 3 yrs

$100 per day in the Hospital, $5 per perscription etc...a fee for even office visits. It costs me only $75 to see my Chiropractor twice a year about about the same to see my Medicine Man once a year.

Wonderful. I hoped it would be that. The Peacemakers  8)

No blood quantum rules apply for Choctaws. 1/8th blood degree is pretty high actually

She must be a direct descendants of original enrollees, meaning check the rolls for her grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, etc...who was alive between 1895-1906

Then review first two paragraphs  at this link.

Her ancestor must be listed on the the Dawes Commission Rolls.  Search the link below.

It is NORMAL to think this is not your ancestor though there are many similarities. Because much of the info is not right on, meaning spelling errors, age errors when compared to Census. Most everyone goes thru this because Indians had no good reason to trust the racist whites deliberately recording much of it incorrectly. They lied to Census workers, more often that not it seems. It can be done, mine was pretty easy
