I read "Atomic Habits" recently and enjoyed it quite a bit. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it, especially since a new school year is starting soon. I'd like to know what habits you have incorporated into your life that make for better days.

There are so many things we do without thinking. I can't help but wonder if some of the pastors who have strayed could have done better with their lives if they had practiced better habits.

I'll check it out...

Habits have been up front in my mind lately because we just came off the road for several weeks.

During the school year, I get into a routine: Up by 0500, shower, breakfast, quiet time, at work by 0630... you get the picture.

However, when I transition into my summer schedule, that structure wavers a bit. Now, add the fact that Mrs. abcaines has retired and we started this summer on the road for an extended vacation, the routine was completely wiped out. My quiet time got pushed to the side because we were in different places almost nightly then getting up and heading out on the road... When we reached our various destinations, we're usually strung out from the driving for a day or two but we're maximizing time with family and friends... And the eating habits. My goodness... restaurants, BBQs, I was amazed to find out I didn't put on any weight during our trip. I have a follow up with my doctor in about an hour. My eating habits are sur to be discussed.

So, yeah... Habits are on the front burner right now.

Sounds like an interesting read. My wife and I are in longstanding habits of getting up at 2 AM or 3 AM, depending on what the plant manager at her place of employment decides to want the first shift employees in. I'll use the 3 AM schedule to show how it is....3 AM we're up, and we take the dogs out for their potty break. The two females (1/2 sisters) go out first. By 3:15 AM I am taking our male Labrador Retriever out for his potty break. Vivian (my wife) is making our coffee cups and starting her bacon and eggs. I take my blood sugar readings by 3:20 AM. At 3:30 AM, Bailey goes to his "room" (kennel), as the girls go right back there when they're done. I make my cereal and we eat breakfast. At 4:15 AM, Vivian starts getting ready for work and I get the dogs' food ready, and they eat. At 4:40 AM Vivian is ready for work and comes out to spend time with the pups. At 5 AM we take the females out again, and Bailey follows after they are done. Vivian finishes anything she needs to do and leaves by 5:15 AM. It usually takes her an hour to drive from Bell Buckle, Tennessee to Mt. Juliet in the northern part of the state. After that my schedule is pretty much the same with the dogs, cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, and when I can going to the market. But, you get the drift We've got busy days and structured evenings as well. Time is important, and more often than not, money.

You and your wife have it down to a science! It's like a choreography. Were you in the service?
