Me and the family are headin' to the Queen City tonight to see Joey Votto put the smack down on the Nats.  Just before bed last nite ALAYboy said "I can't wait til tomorrow".  Knowing that he wasn't talkin' bout the prospects of any second grade subject matter, I asked him what for and he slyly admitted he was stoked about goin' to Great American Ballpark.  They have a lot to offer for the kids, like slides, radar guns, etc.  He loves their Frosty Malts (which ain't happenin' tonite, as the temp outside is gonna be in the upper thirties).  I'm glad he loves the Great American Pastime, but what he don't know yet is that Friday night games have a Fireworks display right after the game.  He's been to one of their displays last summer and loved it, so I'm sure he will be in for more of a treat than he even expects.

So if you like Major League Baseball, who's your team?  And have you been to a game at their park?

The Bravos and several times. I've also seen them play in St Louis, DC, and plan on seeing them play at Wrigley this year. We also go watch our local triple-A team many times each year, and I grew up watching double-A ball.

The Wrigley thing leaves me covetous.  Maybe I'll take my first ever pilgramage to the mecca in Hammond some day and slide out early to the grassy wall.  And speaking of walls, we were in Boston on our 10 year anniversary when I hoped to get to Fenway.  I didn't plan very well for that little excursion and wasn't able to get in.  We walked by it at the end of the game and I tried to coax one of the usher/doorman into letting me walk in just to take a look around.  He laughed out loud and told me where I could go alright. :D

Were you in the Dale Murphy/Bob Horner era, when they pretty much Hoovered, or did you grow up in the Ted Turner years watchin' them beat up on the East perennially?

I haven't recovered from the strike in 1994.

What little I do pay attention is for the Tigers.

You mean when they had the best rotation for a decade and could manage only 1 World Series?;)

I grew up in Cape Cod so I was born cursed a Red Sox fan. I live in the Chicago suburbs and go to Wrigley every few years. I would go more but parking is non existent. I just refused to go see the White Sox

Well, I'm a Yankees fan due to where I grew up, but...

World Series
Appearances, Team, League, Won, Lost

40 New York Yankees AL 27 13
19 San Francisco Giants NL 7 12
18 St. Louis Cardinals NL 11 7
18 Los Angeles Dodgers NL 6 12
14 Oakland Athletics AL 9 5
11 Boston Red Sox         AL 7 4

I grew up an Indians fan, and I still like them very much, but for geographical reasons I was forced to choose a Chicago team nine years ago. My oldest, who was two at the time, helped me make that choice. I said to him, 'There are two teams in town; the Socks and the Cubs. Who are we going to cheer for?' He looked up at me, and said, 'Da Tubs.' ...so I went from cheering for a team that hadn't won a World Series since the 40's to one who hadn't won it since the turn of the PREVIOUS century...

We do follow the Cubs, though they've been so bad the past couple of years it hasn't been much fun. We go to one game or so a year. The stadium is only a few miles straight east of me, but it is rather expensive to go. I really like the Cubs radio broadcast team (still miss Ron Santo very much), and I find listening to baseball to be very relaxing. I did get to watch Opening Day on WGN last Monday, and they brought home a winner. Sadly, I think that was probably the highlight of the season. But Theo gives me hope for the future, and that is what we Cubs fans live on.

When I was a little kid growing up in Northern Wisconsin we would always get the Cubs games on weekends. Ernie Banks, Don Kessinger, Ron Santo, Randy Hundley, Ferguson Jenkins, Billy Williams, etc.

Now I live in NW Indiana and we are totally split between Cubs and White Sox I will always be a Cubs fan!  (And Green Bay Packers)  The only team that is not ashamed to have God's initial right out there on their helmets where everyone can see it!!!!!

I grew up a Royals and Dodgers fan.  My husband played ball through college and what was called semi-pro in the Seattle area, so there was quite an interest in our household.  We've been to home games in Boston,  NY,  Chicago,  St Louis,  Kansas City, and  San Francisco.  None of our 4 boys like baseball so no one follows it now.

Well, the Reds are winning 14-0 right now, so it is kind of a whoopin'.

"kind of"????

Kind of????

That was a royal beatdown.  Six homers, 19 hits, and I don't know how many left on base.  The Reds put the waterboy in the lineup in the seventh inning.  ;)

Seriously, the relief pitchers were BEGGING to get somebody going in the bullpen, but were left out there on a lonesome island of no-man's land, only to get drubbed like Mike Tyson in his later years.  I had to watch with one eye closed and the other one in extreme squint mode. :D
