"She is gone!"

I was watching the game back in 1988 when Kirk Gibson belted that solo shot to close out game 1 of the series with the Oakland A's. I was dancing and screaming all over the little camper trailer I was living in at the time.

This year, I had gotten off of work and was heading out into the boonies of Northern Idaho with Mrs. Abcaines. I found the game on AM radio and listened to it for as long as I could pick up the signal. We got to a friend's house and I occasionally peeked at the game on my phone. I was a little bummed that the Yankees had moved into the lead with a two run shot in the sixth but I knew that this is a classic World Series matchup and was looking forward to a good back and forth series. Imagine my joy at waking up this morning and reading the above linked article.

I was watching the game back in 1977 when Reggie Jackson belted those three HRs too...

I can’t really stand either team (Yankees for obvious reasons, LA because of my memory of the Big Red Machine and the rivalry from the 70s) so I had told my wife I wasn’t going to watch the World Series, but I could not help myself and turned over in the seventh-inning. The Freddie Freeman moment was fantastic. He’s a class guy, and a Christian to boot. The Gibson homer, which I was watching at the time as well, is one of the all-time iconic baseball memories emblazoned in my mind.

My wife and I aren't fans of either team and will probably skip the World Series this year. We're die-hard Braves fans.

Freddy is looking good for Series MVP!

First at bat in Yankee Stadium, fans boo him, so, he shows them! Clubs one out!
