So, was over on blogspot.com a little while ago, setting up a new blog when I came to the point where they wanted to know my gender. No problem, I thought. Clicked on the little arrow to open up the drop box and was quite surprised when I saw three options listed; male, female and other. What the wha?? When did websites start doing that, or is it something isolated? Guess I haven't signed up for much online lately; it appears I'm behind the times.

Just another example, I suppose, of the GLBT "crowd" being pandered to.

There is a legitimate reason for this...ever see a picture of Lady Gaga or Pee Wee Herman? 8)

"Other" could include "not telling". I could see picking that. Privacy, ya know.

Yes, and also, some people are born with both male and female reproductive organs.  Not everything is one or the other.

Ever watch RuPaul's Drag Race?  :-*

I have, although it may be power of suggestion.  I took an online quiz a while ago that challenges you to pick the real woman from pairs of women/transgenders.  I thought it was reasonably easy, but the trick is that they're all transgender.  Maybe because the quiz suggested there was a real woman in every pair, I just picked the more feminine-looking of the two.  It's possible that, in another context, I might have assumed they weren't women.

You're right that they almost always have a certain look about them that gives them away, though.  I recall browsing an Asian dating site, and I could always identify the "ladyboys".  I even made it a game for a while.  I'd browse pictures, pick out the "ladyboy" and then check to see if I was right.  I was almost always right.

Having really good "gaydar" is generally thought of as being a gay thing. Just sayin'...  :-*

LOL -- actually, it's easy to recognize them on the Asian dating site because they often have a male-shaped face, and they tend to wear a lot of makeup. And they always draw attention to their boobs.  One of the few times I was wrong, the woman's profile said, "I'm not a ladyboy.  I just like makeup."  :D  Generally, Asian women (in Asia, at least) don't wear makeup, or they wear very little.
