As the United States struggles with various lawsuits from the ACLU against states like Tennessee, should transitioning children become a federal law or leave it to the states?

Without giving too much depth and thought to this, I am leaning towards it being a state law issue. For the same reason that abortion should remain at a state law issue, it is far easier to adopt. The part of this I haven't thought through is: what if parents want to take their kid to California and transition them there when they are residence of a state that would make it illegal.

They both should remain state issues, not federal. I'm hoping that Tennessee is able to keep any assistance to those who have gender dysphoria from being assisted until after they are 18 years of age. Far too many "teachers" and people in authority are pushing this insane ideology and "assisting" children to become something they were never intended to be.

Interesting how the ACLU doesn't seem to mind the federal government limiting alcohol or tobacco consumption to those 21 or older yet they want to fight vigorously for children to be permitted to undergo a sex change operation. Absolutely perverted.

I agree. BTW, glad to see you still around. Been wondering how you’ve been doing.

I'm still alive and kicking. November and most of December were hard months. My birth father was put on hospice in early November after a serious fall. He was transferred from the VA Hospital in Louisville KY to a nursing home/rehabilitation facility in Corydon IN to be closer to home so my stepmom, who is suffering from dementia, could have my step aunt take her to see Pop every day. Some days she was in no condition to go. One of the nurses took a quick dislike towards Pop and treated him very badly and assaulted him. We filed a grievance. But, while he was in the nursing home, while my stepmom and her sister were around the corner getting her hair done, someone robbed their house stealing $35k, the 400lb safe, and all of my Pop's business papers, will, and receipts for his and my stepmoms cremations. It went from being a local & State of Indiana concern, to also being a federal case because of Pop's owning a partial interest in a couple of oil wells. We're still waiting for answers. At any rate, Pop was moved back to the VA at the insistence of family, and was then allowed to go back home to die. He got saved on November 22nd, and he passed away November 24th. December was hard because a couple of my nieces, whom Pop helped raise, were fighting and arguing over the cremation, and who should pay for it and get reimbursed when the receipt is found. He wasn't cremated until after the 10th of December. They put together a celebration of life for Pop, but they've had to postpone it because of the bad weather that's supposed to be there tomorrow, and because I won't be there, neither will my brother who lives in Montana, nor my sister who I hadn't spoken to in 15 years but was elected to notify about Pops passing, who my Pop hadn't spoken to in nearly 15 years. We have another brother in Orlando who has fried his brain on drugs and wouldn't care one way or the other. Pop hadn't spoken to him in 15+ years.
Sorry that I have unloaded here...guess I just had to get it out of my system.
At any rate, glad to know someone notices absences.

Whatever jurisdiction is responsible for healthcare. Here in Canada that's a provincial matter.

More to the point, perhaps, whatever level of government is responsible for regulating doctors, and can discipline them for medical malpractice.

Doctors get licenses in their particular State (in the US). My oncologist is licensed in multiple states, but not all.

It depends on how the Court interprets the precedent of previous decisions such as Obergefell v. Hodges. In that scenario, the states were all over the place in the legality of same sex marriages, unions, bans, etc., but the result was gay marriage becoming legal in all fifty states. The fundamental difference I see here is that this involves minors as opposed to adults, and constitutionally, minors don’t possess full citizen rights until 18 years of age.

no full citizen rights until age 21 with regards to drinking a beer... lighting up a cigarette... driving a commercial vehicle... or owning a firearm.... ... but plenty of citizens rights at age 18 to vote... perform hazardous industrial jobs.... sign up for surgical mutliation... ... and also join the military.. be handed a gun.. then sent to a foreign country where mutliation at the hands of that countrys extremists is possible if captured.....

Imagine before the 26th Amendment when boys were being drafted to fight in the jungle of Vietnam and couldn’t even vote.

if the dems get their way the next time a draft is reinstated girls as well as boys will be called up and sent to fight... .. and when they get back home they still won;t have the right to smoke a cigarette or drink a beer with their wartime friends and talk about it...... ...but at least they will be able to vote... switch genders.... and walk their ptsd dogs into restaurants and grocery stores.....but then to politicans it;s always been about the trade offs anyway.... ....

i am a firm believer it should be a state issue... same with same sex marriage - which in truth was only supported by lgbtq groups anyway because it gave them medical insurance benefits as a "spouse" they wouldn;t otherwise have as just co-inhabitants of the same house taking showers together.... ... prior to that the entire cult of left wing liberals was adamantly against marriage..... .
