Any former or practicing freemasons on here? I got as far as 3rd degree master mason. Boooooooring. When I got back in church there was some things that convinced me that freemasonry was not a good thing. I'll tell you my reasons, but I'd like to hear from you guys.

Goat riding anyone?

Its a cult.  I have a friend who was in it for years and when he got saved, he came out. He presented a detailed study of their beliefs in a class in our church.  It was eye-opening. I think there are SBC churches that say you cannot be a member of the Freemasons and be a church member.

Where can I get in touch with some?

I have a brick job that needs done, but I am broke.

Dang, you beat me to it.  Great minds, you know.

That's funny guys ;D. Seriously though, no more opinions on this?

Being SBC...I remember the convention dealing with this issue.  I believe they sort of skirted the issue by deferring to the "Priesthood of the Believer" and refuse to make a stand.  Our church made a stand and though we would not refuse membership to a freemason...he cannot teach, nor can he lead a ministry.  That is the short version of our experience...so much more happened and maybe I can share it when I have more time.  We found that Freemasonry and Christianity on the basis of their teaching and practice were not compatible...and we encouraged all men to leave Freemasonry.

I don't really know much about it. Oh sure, I've seen History Channel documentaries and stuff, but I don't know how much of that is true.

Never been a freemason, but I have a few friends in it.  Seems like more of just a social club than anything else.  They certainly don't seem to have any serious or binding "beliefs" of a religious nature.
