Jesus Paid It All

...all to him I owe
sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow.

I hear the Saviour say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in me thine all in all.

I Asked the Lord that I Might Grow

I asked the Lord that I might grow
In faith, and love, and every grace;
Might more of His salvation know,
And seek, more earnestly, His face.

Day by day

My Jesus I love Thee

A mighty fortress is our God

God's Word is our great heritage
And shall be ours forever;
To spread its light from age to age
Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way,
In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant, while worlds endure,
We keep its teachings pure.
Throughout all generations.

1. Built on the Rock the Church doth stand,
Even when steeples are falling;
Crumbled have spires in every land,
Bells still are chiming and calling,
Calling the young and old to rest,
But above all the soul distrest,
Longing for rest everlasting.

2. Surely in temples made with hands,
God, the Most High, is not dwelling;
High above earth His temple stands,
All earthly temples excelling.
Yet He whom heavens cannot contain
Chose to abide on earth with men,
Built in our bodies His temple.

3. We are God's house of living stones,
Builded for His habitation;
He through His boundless grace us owns
Heirs of His wondrous salvation.
Were we but two His name to tell,
Yet He would deign with us to dwell,
With all His grace and His favor.

4. Now we may gather with our King
E'en in the lowliest dwelling;
Praises to Him we there may bring,
His wondrous mercy forthtelling.
Jesus His grace to us accords;
Spirit and life are all His words;
His truth doth hallow the temple.

5. Still we our earthly temples rear
That we may herald His praises;
They are the homes where He draws near
And little children embraces.
Beautiful things in them are said;
God there with us His covenant made,
Making us heirs of His kingdom.

6. Here stands the font before our eyes
Telling how God did receive us;
The altar recalls Christ's sacrifice
And what His table doth give us;
Here sounds the Word that doth proclaim
Christ yesterday, today, the same,
Yea, and for aye our Redeemer.

7. Grant then, O God, where'er men roam,
That, when the church-bells are ringing,
Many in saving faith may come
Where Christ His message is bringing:
"I know Mine own, Mine own know Me;
Ye, not the world, My face shall see.
My peace I leave with you." Amen.

Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, The Solid Rock (My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less), & It Is Well With My Soul

This last is a newer song, not a hymn, but it's my favorite right now:
In Christ Alone Live - HD

In Christ Alone

CHORUS:
In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all

Raine, I'm with you on the song "in Christ alone". I've been hearing Lauren Talley tear it up on the radio. And I'm not really into contemporary stuff, but 4Him has a great version of Solid Rock on youtube.

There are several that I like, and I'll post a few later.

But for now, my ideal hymn doesn't quite exist.

It would be A Mighty Fortress is Our God with Michael Borg's traditional lyrics. (I don't mean he wrote them, but I'd never seen them before and he posted them.) And performed in heavy, kinda metal-ish, rock and roll style. Twisted Sister could do it right. Rammstein might be even better, but they wouldn't. Stryper might be the best realistic choice.

girlfriend, you have issues! :hammer:

Death, you cannot end my gladness,
I am saved thanks to Christ.
When I die, I leave all sadness
To inherit paradise.
Though I lie in dust and ashes,
Faith's assurance brightly flashes:
Christ has giv'n me strength divine
And made life immortal mine.

There is nothing worth comparing
To this life-long comfort sure.
Open-eyed my grave is staring,
Even there I'll sleep secure.
Though my flesh awaits its raising,
Still my soul continues praising.
I am saved thanks to Christ;
I'm a child of paradise.

It is well with my soul. Definitly one of my all time favorites. We sang it in church this morning.

I have many favorites, but this one is the absolute favorite song in our junior church:  Nothing but the Blood

My two favourites have always been "Faith Is The Victory" and Mansion Over the Hilltop"

Violet, I am playing this song on my mandolin for the offertory song Sunday. Albeit in a way you've probably never heard.....faster and bluegrassed up. 8)

Oh, really?  8) I'd probably enjoy hearing that! :D  ;D

Amazing Grace.

Not a big fan of Hymns, but in keeping with the theme of our current series, we sang part of it today and it did bring back some memories of when I was a kid.
