I've been reminiscing about the Christmas Specials I used to watch as a kid. I know I'm not alone having fond memories of these specials and thought I'd evoke some memories with this poll. I don't pretend this poll is all-inclusive: if I'm missing one you liked, please share it. I stuck mainly to the cartoon/claymation classics of the 60s.

Apropos to my post in the movie thread, there are at least two classic songs from Meet Me in St. Louis: "The Trolley Song" and, of course, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

But since this is about TV specials, I voted for the Grinch song--which, as a point of interest, was sung by Thurl Ravenscroft, also known as the voice of Tony the Tiger.

Also notable: The "Heat Miser" and "Snow Miser" songs from The Year Without a Santa Claus. And how could you miss the theme song from A Charlie Brown Christmas?

Indeed, the instrumental by Vince Guaraldi, known as Linus and Lucy, will always be linked to A Charlie Brown Christmas and is a Christmas classic in it's own right but IMO, the song stands well by itself without a Christmas context.

Christmas Time is Here was seldom heard outside of A Charlie Brown Christmas throughout the 70s and 80s. It began gaining more popularity through the 90s and has rightly gained status as an all time Christmas classic covered by both Christian and secular artists.

As for the Heat Miser and Snow Miser tunes, they came to mind but other than their catchy melody, my memory of them is vague which is why I included the disclaimer that my list is not all inclusive. I was hoping someone would mention them.
