Recently an IFB pastor posted the words to "Everythings All Right in my Father's House" on Facebook.  A female Hacker's response is worth this thread:

"Brother Hyles made that chorus up after a men's dorm fire at HAC.  He calmed the chapel audience by singing it and all began to ding it together with him.  There was damage but no one was hurt.  The chorus caught on and we sang it on bus routes and everywhere else throught the years."

Isn't it great to know that Brother Hyles gets credit for making up a song on the spur of the moment even if the chorus was originally written by someone else back in the 1920'.  Gotta love Hackers!!  :)

you stinkin' libral!!!!!! You're thinking about a similar chorus sung by Southern Babbbbbtist com promisers!!!!!!!! How dare you doubt the authorship of that great chorus of the faith. You have shaken the foundation of all HACkerdom!

Skin me!!!!!

The other author had verses and all that - just a standard hymn.

BRO. HYLES just repeated the chorus until everybody really felt better.  THIS was his genius.  To present the deep truths in a simple manner that influences all of our lives.  He was the original originator.  Everyone was ready to quit on Christianity and throw away their Bibles, until - the same chorus was repeated for a solid hour.  Soon, there was so much vain repetition, and we were so moved by the presence of our hero and our precious boopsie-woopsie's hair - aaaaaahhhhh -  (breaking out in song) Precious memories, how they linger, how they...........

I do believe it was during my freshman year at HAC that the rescue mission burned.  Dr. Hyles announced it after a Wednesday evening service.  He began to sing, "Everythings all right...".  The crowd joined him as we sang it over and over again.  I think it was a great thing to do, but not for a minute did he say, nor did I think, he wrote the song.  I remember singing that song as a kid.

I remember that happening at HAC.

I also remember singing the tune years before that.

Jack did have a knack for lifting the spirits of those he lead in times of storms. That would have been good to teach in Church Ed rather than DH diet/eating tips.

Oh, dear!

Yes, Patriotic, you called?  :)

Raider, have you been to Colorado again? The second-hand smoke is starting to affect you.

Oh, I'm so sorry, Patriotic.  I got so use to you calling me "dear" and "hunk" while at HAC I just took it for granted that you were speaking to me.

I thought I had sung that at 5 day clubs growing up. Cant remember Hyles' tune

It was the same exact song.  Brother Hyles never claimed to have written it.  When the song was recently referenced on Facebook for some reason this Hackerette has thought for all these years that Brother Hyles wrote it.

Still amazes me the man worship that keeps on going

Criticize all you want, but when my family and I were going through some really rough times a few years ago, my husband and I sang that song over and over.  It helped us bond together as a family going through those times.  Many many tears were spilled.  I think they even sung that song at his funeral.  Now you got me singing it!

Criticize??????  What thread are you reading?  We are laughing about a HAC grad from the '80s thinking that Dr. Hyles wrote the song.  No one is criticizing the song.

Nope not criticizing the song. I sing it all the time to myself in the car! I agree with what Raider just said.
