One of the main topics in the national news at this time is Ebola.  As with anything, there are many different thoughts and viewpoints.  What do you believe should be done in the US?  How far do you think this will spread?  What is our obligation to Africa?  Any other thoughts?

One of my co-workers (who is a bit of a conspiracy theory guy) believes that a terrorist organization will begin to purposely infect several of its members and send them into the US to infect as many people as possible.  Of course they will be promised a new level in "heaven" for doing this.  I know that these idiots blow themselves up, but I wasn't sure if they would volunteer for a slow miserable death.

I am trying not to freak out!! I dont believe the government has a air tight plan! Point proven with another nurse testing positive in Texas today.  Government just needs to admit they dont have all the answers, and get some outiside help or info. I think anyone that has been in contact with someone testing positive needs to be secluded for the full 21 days. Saw a news person broke the 21 day secluctioni and was "sorry" for putting others at risk!! Our borders need to be shut until this is under control.  This doesnt need to be addressed as a political issue. Saw I think Jesse Jackson wanting to know why the blackman died and no one else. Did not know Ebola was racist!!

They live miserable lives, so I see that as a possibility.

As long as we allow planes into America with people from areas that have been affected, I think it will be a losing battle.

I think they know what is best for the U.S. but refuse to do it. The CDC has dealt with various strain of ebola since 1976. They have a great deal of experience & they have been doing research on the 3 known strains for the last 30 yrs. Richard Preston's 1994 bestseller,
(The Hot Zone) recounts the CDC's past experience with EBOLA.

Make no mistake, every policy & every decision being made regarding this situation is political & is being directed from the White House. Every past outbreak of EBOLA has been short lived because it was contained & allowed to run its course. Reaction plans for wide spread pandemics are already in place we just need to follow the procedures. The White House needs to stop making decisions based on how it will look & do what's right for America. Open borders will be our downfall if we don't do something fast.

The borders issue has a broad effect on terrorism, drugs, spread of infectious disease, crime, poverty, government spending, welfare, school funding and so many other issues. Its also about votes.

Agree with you. I recommended my kids to get flu shots (given by their employers) for the first time ever.

Wow.  I haven't had a flu shot since I got out of the Air Force where they were mandatory.  Too many bad stories about what they can do to you.  And no, I've never had the flu (knock on RAIDERS head).

My oldest had the flu about 10 years ago, dont know any other time anyone had it in our family. And I dont like flu shots, but this Ebola scare has me nervous!! I did vaccinate all my kids, at their scheduled time. But two in the family are around large groups and one son works with reclaimed water (poop water!!) So I want to be prepared and very cautious.

Well....I don't trust our government.  Period.

I am flying to Denver in 3 weeks.  I WILL be wearing a mask.

And I am wondering what the TSA will think of THAT.  Will I have HAZMAT suits escorting me off the plane?  I know no one will want to sit by me....and I don't blame them.  I know it sounds like I'm paranoid, and I'm really not.  But, I do NOT trust our government to handle this correctly.  And I will NOT take any chances seeings I am going to see my precious daughter and granddaughter.

Will keep you all posted!!!!

I am making plans to fly at Thanksgiving time, and I have thought about wearing a mask as well! Would be nice to have two empty seats next to me. :)

I even thought of holding a barf bag...while wearing my mask....haha!  If the plane isn't full, I will be sure to have empty seats next to me!  hahaha!  My family doesn't think this is such a good idea.....

The second nurse infected with Ebola was on a plane from Cleveland to Dallas the day before she was admitted to the hospital.  Cleveland! NO WAY am I getting on a plane without a mask.  NO WAY.  And I will try real hard not to touch anything either.  They just don't know enough about this yet...and if they do...they aren't telling.  I am NOT for paranoia or paralyzing people with fear.  I AM, however, for taking responsibility for ones own safety.  As much as possible.

I have a feeling I won't be the only one in the airport wearing a mask.

Don't worry. They'll just think you are Asian. Every time I fly I see Asian people wearing the masks. I think it's a habit they picked up during the Avian flu scare.
