During the past few years I have watched many of the episodes of Duck Dynasty.  While I am not a huge fan, I am thankful for the stand that they take for many things of Christian value.  On the other hand, we would not classify them as IFB in their behavior or beliefs.

My reason for starting this thread is something in which I have found humor.  There are several IFB churches in my neck of the woods that you would classify as very separated.  The preachers would have issues with promoting someone that does not use the KJV, does not have the same dress standards that they feel the Bible teaches, someone that participates in amusements (music, movies, hair length, etc) with which they don't agree, etc.  They would even preach against them from the pulpit.  They would encourage people to not get too close to them.  I think you all know what I'm saying.

Because they are hunters, these same pastors love and promote Duck Dynasty.  They talk behind the pulpit about Phil Roberson and his stand for God.  They have a Duck Dynasty theme for skits and special meetings.  There are no critical words spoken about Duck Dynasty.  You would thing the Robersons are the second coming of John the Baptist.

I actually have to smile as I watch this going on.  It is hypocritical I know, but at the same time it is humorous.  Has anyone else had the same observation?

I've been to their church and shop. They are very evangelistic, moral and humble.
The Church of Christ emphasis on baptism would be my only point of contention. Even with that said, Willie baptized a convert while we were there and told us that he had a discussion with the individual about his salvation and thought him to be a believer, THEN he baptized him.

Their music was awesome!

They wear the same thing in church as you see them in their dressy mode on TV.

Personally, I would have been against my daughter doing a couple of the dances that Sadie performed on Dancing with the Stars.

To the Robersons it was "God honoring".

I have had many discussions with Church of Christ pastors.  You do realize it is not just an emphasis, It is Baptismal Regeneration, plain and simple.  No, if ands or buts about it.  Baptismal Regeneration is works salvation.  It is not an emphasis, it is a false teaching.

Are they believers?

I have contention with their belief. I also know that they have differences among them and not all agree with the term "baptismal regeneration." Some do not believe an unbaptized person is not saved. They just will not let them become members of the church. I wont defend them or pretend to know what they believe. All I know is what I heard one time at one baptism.

Is the CoC much different from an extreme KJVO telling a person they cannot be saved without using a KJV?

You are correct, there is no difference.  We hammer those that believe your KJV comment while you defend the Roberson's heresy.

I don't defend their teaching.

Sorry, I thought this post was trying to "sugar coat" their beliefs.

His statements while baptizing the young man were not consistent with what we understand to be "baptismal regeneration."

If what he said at the baptism was true... "I spoke with this man at length and am confident that he believes and is a follower of Christ."

... then it appears he either misspoke or they are of the variety of CoC that has moved quite a bit from original Campbellism (they do exist).

I mention all of this because it is easy for those of us who have never been on the "inside" to view all CoCs as holding to "baptismal regeneration."

Thank you for the clarification.

Churches of Christ are certainly as different as Baptist Churches can be.

"Traditional" COC's do believe in Baptismal Regeneration, Losing Salvation, Works, no music, ect....

However, for some, they are just "Community" type churches under the COC banner.  I know a lot of Churches of God who are the same way.

I think the Robinsons go to an evangelical COC, outside the traditional "Campbelite" that we in the South know and love.

A ministry of that church has posted this video  http://www.wecaretoday.net/Step%20Into%20The%20Water.html  It is as heretical as can be.
