As some of you know, our family travels the US in a RV and we visit many different churches. Our goal is to get our kids exposed to gospel-preaching churches of various size, in different cultures and even those who have different doctrines (as long as the gospel is present).

The two-hour service began at 10am. The first hour was acapella singing with a special speaker from NJ talking about recovery from Sandy. Also, communion was interspersed between two segments of the speaker's comments. Acapella because this particular Church of Christ has ZERO instruments. The singing was amazing.

The second hour was more singing but mainly a message. Very good. Used the Bible (yes, not all churches have on our trip) :(

Oh yeah... did we see Duck Dynasty? Certainly. A couple of people went up to Jase to get their pictures right before the service began. Tacky, tacky, tacky. We saw the whole clan (minus Phil and Si). The kid was Happy... happy... happy, but Jase was courteous.

Jase's wife is an awesome singer. Yes. They dress the way they do on the show. Willie baptized a young 20 something. They drive the trucks that are on the show.

The invitation was handled very well. One invite, no special pleading or extended prayer to manipulate people. There was a simple invite. A flood of people went forward and a whole crew of the church (elders/counselors) met the individuals in the front. They shared the various reasons with the whole congregation and expressed ways the congregation could help. Then they all prayed over each person.

Did we approach them? Nope. It is church! We were there for God's sake, not our own.  The church was not a mega church. There was plenty of opportunity for us to meet them, but Hey! that would not be appropriate!

Oh yeah... Mountain Man is younger than he looks on TV.

What a great lesson in life you and your family will be sharing for a life time. The Duck Dynasty is my favorite program I laugh more with their family wholesome times together which is priceless!! When we get to Miami or before make sure you tour the state of Florida..........let me know when you're headed our way.  8)

Pretty cool! I'm helplessly addicted to DD - cant promise that I wouldn't have taken advantage to meet the boys. Great story, tho. Thanks for sharing.

In January 2012, we were in Homestead for a week and Pompano for a week. We went through the panhandle, down the Gulf coast, stayed in the keys for a week, then drove up the Atlantic coast.

We saw Miami from Biscayne National Park :D

Holy Cow, we missed you.........you saw the great things about Florida. Did you stop in Orlando?  :)  Well the next time you're out and about let us know......... 8)  Your kids will talk about these adventures all of their lives!!

Yes. I had lunch with Mathew Ward and visited his church.
We also went to Disney World for one day.
Perhaps our most exciting part of our trip in Florida was the Everglades.
Although, I really liked the keys.
We were parked next to the Villages for about a week... talk about a traffic nightmare!

Mathew is the best ..........we had lunch a few years ago together ..his family is wonderful!!

I've lost count on how many times I've been to Disney/Orlando it's also a great shopping experience... 8)

The keys are my favorite on Stock Island there is a new pastor who really has a burden for the area. My husband preached at their church which started his journey back into preaching.

Biscayne National Park if I'm remembering correctly you can look across the intracoastal and see the city..........

I'm glad you all enjoyed yourselves......now go visit Michigan in the summer it's too cold right now..

Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in Traverse City
Mackinaw Island in Mackinaw
Soo Locks is where the ships come from the St Lawrence Sea way to the great lakes  (prophet knows more than I do about this area)
