Folks, I am using my real name, describing my relationship to Jim Vineyard, and telling where I was when I observed the things I saw. But before I receive any medals for heroism, I live in Mexico, will not be seeking any paid positions again, and am safe from retaliation.  I have told everyone here about the slander on my college transcript, and I have no need to fear retaliation.

However, not everybody else has those advantages. If you read Preeble's posts on another forum, you'll recall that he (or she) described events at the Chicago UPS, the Hammond UPS, the dormitories, a married student's house, the campus, and in Brother Hyles' office. He could not possibly have observed all those events. I have observed that the events he described at the Chicago UPS are true. I have described only events that I can personally verify.

I did notice three other things about Preeble, though:

When he started posting, five or six posters immediately jumped in with strong testimony that the events never occurred. Five of those posters were not even students at the time.

1) You have posters on this and other FFF forums who speak knowledgeably and authoritatively about events they know nothing about. A problem on many Christain forums is that people who are rejected as teachers by every congregation that knows them are allowed to teach on the forums. People like that are teaching on this forum.

One poster ran a few posts ridiculing Dr. Evans for trying to stop the Roadway Gang, and then switched over to more than a year of lying that the events never took place. I can verify personally that he was close friends with one of the gangsters and knew for a fact that the events really occurred.

2) You have posters on this and other FFF forums who plain, straight, lie.

Preeble pointed out an obscure fact that I had noticed years ago. HAC leaders who turned against the college because of its sins did not usually post on the FFF. John Olsen and I used to look for HAC grads who needed help; he told me that much of the FFF writings were true and much of them false, but he never posted on the FFF. It might have happened, but I know of no HAC professor who ever posted on an FFF forum.

3) The lead posters on FFF forums have little real knowledge of what the leadership was doing at HAC.

The greatest strength of the FFF forums has been that grads who fear that they are failures for rejecting HAC's sins can come here and find out that they are not alone. They can also find out that HAC does not have the moral authority to condemn anyone. But many of the most vocal posters have no spiritual strength to share.

How can you possibly verify this?

Like I said, Vince -- leave me out of it, please.

Right. Right. But God TOLD you to go and work for a gangster. Would you like to buy an ocean front home in Indiana?

Balaam, I want you to know that I enjoy your friendship. I am serious about wishing that you would retire down here, where there are various ministries available. When you ask how I could work for Vineyard when I knew all these bad things about him, you're raising a valid point, and I hadn't realized that so many saints would have a problem with it.

Actually, a lot of Christian staff, from school teachers to assistant pastors, have problems with the leader. Deacons and their pastor often have some problems with each other. Church splits aren't too rare, and yet the people who leave will usually acknowledge that the pastor had some good points.

Now Brother, I'm stuck. God called me to work for Jim, I did, and He blessed me. Jim did not allow gang violence when I was at OBC, and the students actually did get an education while I was there. I was blessed as a teacher, a soul-winner, and even as a Sunday School teacher. It worked.
