What do you do to avoid the dreaded viruses?  And what is your preventative plan?
We tend to be a healthy household, but my husband never seems to get sick.  It has been years since he had a cold.  He claims it is the apple cider vinegar he drinks everyday.

We have the cider heads at our church too. I will tell you of a concoction I like to use. 8 ounces of water, 1 pack of Emergen-C citrus, 2 tablets of Alka Seltzer cold and sinus. Tastes great and works!

We take alot of vitamins and drink hot tea (green )
VitaminC, E,  I juice lots of fresh fruit along with lots of drinking water..

When I get sick I swear by Robituson cough syrup............

I like hot green tea myself. I also love Earl Grey tea.

And my momma taught me it's not polite to swear.  ;)

Drinks lots of Diet Coke!  LOL

I am just getting over a cold. I havn't had as much orange juice this year. That might be why. Maybe I should drink some more OJ.

I think the Diet Coke works  ;)

I've never heard of "cider heads" but it seems to work for him.  He is around sick people all day, but remains healthy.

I made the cider head thing up. There is a lot of people down here that swear by the stuff. I figured it was as good a term as any. :)

I drink more OJ in the winter, and I also supplement vitamin d during the cold months that make it impossible to get enough sun.

I think I would rather take the colds and flu than the vinegar!

Up until this winter, I've never had much trouble with colds or the flu. Usually stayed pretty healthy despite not taking any preventative measures.

This winter however, I've already gone two rounds with nasty colds. With the first one, drinking more OJ and taking vitamin C seemed to help. Didn't have that kind of luck the second time around. What I found that really helped with that cold was Alka Seltzer Plus Cold & Flu medicine. Will definitely keep a hearty supply on hand for the remainder of this winter.

I did a bit of cider back in the day. Best way was equal parts cider vinegar, honey, and water. Maybe a little over an ounce each.

We have been super blessed and no one has gotten sick here. And the kids are all involved in church activities and babies are in nurseries. And no sickness here.  I do have the kids playing outside even in winter so they do get fresh air still

We eat locally grown mandarines during cold and flu season

Our County Mandarin oranges are known worldwide for combating cold and flu symptoms, generally within just 10 minutes. USDA studied the oranges, verified the oranges contained a natural form of sudafed (decongestant)

Joanne Neft, a friend, first noticed her grandkids runny noses stopped running with just an 8 ounce glass of drinking fresh squeezed locally grown mandarin oranges. Took a few years, no one really donated much money so she finally paid most of the
$2500 it took to get the US Dept of Agriculture to test and verify it as fact.
Placer Grown, our local Ag arm, sell the oranges worldwide from Mid Oct thru Xmas

Keeping your immune system strong helps a lot. To that end, good nutrition, exercise and getting enough sleep (America is chronically sleep deprived) all help.

If I feel like I'm getting a cold, I take generic Claritin (to help deal with the symptoms; it's pure antihistimine and it lasts 24hrs., no decongestant; I don't use decongestant meds unless it's so bad I have no choice), Emergen-C and zinc gluconate lozenges.
