I have a daughter who is interested in learning Latin.

What do you think the best way to go would be for her? She is an older teen and wants to learn it both for her own interest and to help her have an easier time understanding classifications and such in science by better understanding the root words and knowing off the bat what she's dealing with when it comes to some unfamiliar terms.

I taught myself using a book called "Wheelock's Latin". There's also a workbook that goes with it.

Latin is one of those languages that really require a tutor. Try retired clergy, they might be able to help.

That's the horrible part about this. She had a mentor (who was also my oldest one's mentor and favorite teacher) that got her interested and was helping her, then that teacher was killed by her husband (and husband taught at another daughter's school) in a murder-suicide.

Wonderful woman, still sorely missed but much has been accomplished in her name by students keeping her memory alive.

For now, another tutor can wait. It's been hard enough on the them to cope with that and the new teacher before bringing another change into the mix.
