Anyone try out the new Windows 8 preview yet?

I installed it to today on another hard drive and have played with it some.  Seems very neat but alien.  It does not have any way to shut down programs except through the task manager.  Seems like it is made more for tablets.

I think it will mark the decline of Microsoft.  Apple with their OSX and Ubuntu will grow by leaps and bounds.

Not yet, but I will eventually. I remember reading there's a way to set it to look mostly like the Windows 7 interface.

Same thing was said about Vista.

I have three computers, each one with a different operating system. My desktop has Vista, my netbook has XP (my favorite OS), and my full size laptop has Windows 7. I'm in no hurry to try out yet another operating system.

I've heard this for years.... I don't believe it.

One of these days..... people are going to wake up and realize that "Apple" has more of proprietary hold on electronics than Microsoft ever had.  Just read any EULA that Apple produces... I dare you.

Ubuntu isn't my Linux version of choice. Personally.... I prefer several others. The "Ubuntu" hype is basically over. It has been for a few years now.

I don't know, I have tried many flavors but Ubuntu does everything and well.  I see Mint has passed it in Distrowatch though with Fedora close behind.

I switched happily to OSX 10.7 about two months ago and don't plan on leaving anytime soon but good to have Windows on another hard drive for some special software.

I looked at a preview and didn't download it because it did seem to be designed more for a tablet.
I just got a new laptop for Christmas, which I love, but I'm going to be taking web design and graphic arts classes starting in fall so I guess the move to Apple/OS X is pretty inevitable now.

The most aggravating thing is there is no way to exit programs.  You also need a tutorial to use it and it is not mouse or keyboard friendly.  Mac makes their OS better and Microsoft just makes their's different.

The new Windows can not setup my printer, an HP Lazer printer  Ubuntu and Mac OSX did easily.
