Announcing Trayvon Martin Day at Elementary School

My question is, is it necessary or appropriate to make elementary school children focus on this?

Coleman said that every adult who attended the seminar would receive an Arizona Iced Tea and each student would get a bag of Skittles.

You just can't tell the difference between real news and parody anymore.

Who is going to get the weed?

A little too soon, isn't it? We don't know all the facts yet.

Over the weekend, Martin's parents spoke at a rally in East St. Louis with the goal of stopping violence
and shootings.  (In East St. Louis, violence and shootings is referred to as "just another Saturday night".)

The locals responded warmly to the Martins' plea.  One guy got shot in a driveby, three others were
shot while at a drive-thru joint, and still three more were shot in other incidents.

However, since all the shootings were black-on-black crime, this probably won't make the national news.
Only reason I even heard it is because I live just outside East St. Louis, and it made the local news.

As much black on black crime as there is, the media could run 24-7-365 and not cover it all.  It has gotten so common place it is no longer news.
How about 40 people being shot in Chicago over the weekend?  I guess the shooters didn't know it is illegal to have a gun in the Windy City.

It's not exactly legal in East Saint, either, since both cities are in Illinois (and equally as corrupt politically).  It's just another illustration of the phrase "If guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns."
