American Heritage: A New Christian-Only Community in Tennessee

If the racial component of their message was removed, would you feel more comfortable or find that idea more appealing?

Nope.

They're trying to set up a utopian community built around their beliefs. Look how such projects ended up, from the Puritans to Jonestown. Utopias quickly turn into dystopias for one simple reason: All utopias are merely a work of the flesh.

I see what you mean, but I view those types of micro communities as more of a cult, which might be their true intent. On a more macro level, I don’t view it any differently than the Muslims who have been immigrating to certain towns in Michigan, or the Mormons to certain cities in Utah. I even used to jokingly refer to Greenville, SC as the “Mecca for Christian fundamentalists” due to the unprecedented number of people who were moving there due to the influence of Bob Jones University, although in recent years it has just become a popular destination for people everywhere with no knowledge of the university.

That sounds okay from an American freedom and liberty perspective, but how do you view their efforts in light of your Christian understanding of race relations?

From a biblical perspective, the argument should be for breaking down the barriers of segregation, not reinforcing them. It’s hard to fit their mentality in with Galatians 3:28. I think the issue comes down to intent. If the intention of such a community is racial separation, then there’s a problem. However, if the result of a different intention results in racial separation as a mere byproduct, then it becomes a less problematic issue.

Did you know the Muslims in Dearborn voted for Trump? They want to be successful just like you and I .

If their intent is accurately portrayed in the video provided it doesn't appear that their Christianity has room in it unless you go back to pre-civil rights era times. Not a good look.
