Do they teach the classic doctrines of Grace?
Are they using the AH Strong's Systematic Theology? My parents made me study that constantly when I was young. It covers most anything you would want in a Theology course.

Already took the course by Dr. Evans a few decades ago.

You need to retake the course since there is more history now than then.

For those who don't follow the links, this is Bob Gray, Sr's on-line college - the "new" courses are:

The History of World War II (Wendall Evans)
Planting a Church in the Third World (Tim Pledger)
Bible Doctrines (DeWayne Walker)
The Book of Acts (Raymond Wicks)

I took a look at the faculty for Bob Gray's college...and their credentials.

Maybe I'm overtired, but it just amused me:

Tom Vogel - I was a top insurance agent for two years. I have been married a long time. I have grown kids who have jobs!

Keith McKinney - I knew Dave Hyles really well! I am a car salesman!

Interesting.

How much in depth bible teaching do you really think is taking place here?

He pastored for 29 years in Longview, Texas. Under Dr. Gray?s leadership LBT had over one million souls come to Christ.

I can feel my blood pressure rising.

Bob Gray has said in his blog that it is far more important to just read the Bible than to study the Bible. He said, "What the Bible says is more important than what it means!" Interesting. I just read a book about Martin Luther and when they were going through debates about the Lord's Supper elements Luther says that the Bible says, "This is my body". He said how can anyone argue with a statement more plain than that.

After years of watching and listening to BG, I can't imagine anyone taking him too seriously about anything and I have a REAL difficult time with people who have no qualms about being associated with him. Bible college 'professors' or not.

I have great issue as well with those that would associate with him.

Looking at the roster of "staff" at this online "college," it appears that this is where the old guard of IFB has gone to be put out to pasture.  There is also the few middle aged wanna-be's who never got published in the Revival Fires (back when it was relevant to the IFB) but are now "famous."

You are so totally correct......especially about those four years in the '80s while I was in college.  Occasionally, I still hear of something that happened during those four years that I had absolutely no idea that it occurred as I was in the neat, little cocoon called Bible College.

One of the things that irritates me about so many of the ifb college faculties is the way they seem to have such disdain for scholarship higher education. How many times have we heard the phrase Dr. Messemup or Professor Bigbottom? Yet, these guys love to be called Dr. Somebody. Dave Baker is an intelligent man. But he has a doctorate from Texas Baptist college who I seriously doubt have a doctoral program.

Or just plain anti-Scriptural.  The Bible tells us to Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed.

Bob Gray's statement sounds a bit like the Catholic teaching that laymen shouldn't read the Bible or think for themselves, but to trust the clergy.  I actually heard a preacher in the same camp as Bob Gray go so far as to say that the Bible was really for the pastors to preach to the people.

Indeed!
