"The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control." (NIV)

What constitutes a "reasonable" time.

Now I know there is no set-in-stone answer for that question, but I guess I'm just curious to hear y'alls opinions on the matter.

:)

Whatever is acceptable to both parties. In my experience in counseling couples, a month is way too long. I suggest a weekend.

It can hardly be called fasting if you don't get hungry.  I would think a similar criteria might be involved in this matter as well.

Common sense answer...assuming there's not some sort of change in physical health then I'd say that whatever the pattern had been in early marriage (assuming both parties were good with the intimacy in the beginning) should be maintained.

The bolded portion is key. There is no formula here. The issue is that of agreement.

Do you have the KJ version, it might have a little more info: :D  I guess, when you can have lack of self-control."  Stay away from sea food, this might help your self control. ???
