Has anyone here read Giancarlo Granda's book "Off the Deep End - Jerry and Becki Falwell and the Collapse of an Evangelical Dynasty" (2022) and have any comments about it? It is the inside story of the sleaze and hypocrisy of the leadership at the world's largest Christian university, and we can only hope and pray that things have been cleaned up there since Jerry Junior's departure.
Another interesting book is "In the Land of Believers" (2010) by Gina Welch, an atheist Jewish woman who joined Thomas Road Baptist Church, while Jerry Sr. was still pastor, to research its beliefs and practices. She took part in an evangelistic mission to Alaska. She describes the evangelistic outreach of the church as consisting mainly of just getting people to recite the salvation prayer and pronouncing them saved, with little if any follow-up. Her book is all about Thomas Road, not about Liberty about which she makes very little mention.
