Socialism in the church.

We have a place in the forum for welcoming new visitors, but since you didn’t come through that portal, how about telling us a little bit about yourself here and now in this thread? What’s your Christian background/testimony?
Sorry I didn't know of that portal. I don't usually comment on forums. I was saved by God's grace in 1991. I joined the Independent Fundamental Baptist Church around 1998. Currently trying to plant an old Paths type IFB church in the Los Angeles area. Not Ruckmanite, not a New IFB guy, not a Hyles guy. Hope that helps. God bless.

Thanks, and welcome to the forum.☺️ It can be an odd place for new-comers, and as the name implies ("fighting" forums) you should have some thick skin when entering the conversation(s).

You say you are IFB, not Hyles-style or Ruckmanite, so out of curiosity is there a particular strain of IFBs that have shaped your beliefs most (GARBC, Bob Jones, RL Hymers, David Cloud's camp, etc)? And what brought you to find our little corner of the IFB/fundamentalist world?

Do you have any affiliation or relation with Paul Chappell up in Lancaster, CA? What would be your opinion regarding Dr. John MacArthur?

Welcome to the forum! I think you'd probably get along great with Dr. Phil Armenik! He's a gifted evangelist who pops in here every once in a while.

How can it be vague when I gave specific examples?
"Specific examples" would mean you named names and cited substantial examples that we could find and evaluate for ourselves.

You did neither.

The only names you have named are King James, Rice, Hyles, and Ruckman. All of them are dead. Obviously, they aren't teaching socialism in churches.

A "specfic example" of an IFB church with socialism in it would be something like, "Pastor Joe Blow of First Baptist Church of North Moot preached a sermon on Acts 4:32 in which he advocated for government taxation and nationalization of industry to redistribute wealth." Unspecified women running unspecified churches or working jobs outside the home do not constitute "specific examples" of "feminism."

Do better.

Yeah, we here on the forum would really like to get ourselves worked up into a ruckus over feminism and socialism being promoted in the IFB churches of Kansas and California, but it's hard when Antipas has provided absolutely no documentation whatsoever that this is taking place. Give us some factual info to deal with, please. Maybe you can even write a book of "outcry" over women who don't know their place, like John Knox did in 1558.

The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women (Dodo Press) Paperback – August 3, 2006

"A collection of works critiquing some of the most powerful women in 16th century Europe. The principle [sic] contributor being John Knox, the protestant Scottish religious reformer."

You forgot IFCA

You forgot IFCA
Great to see you again friend!

Besides, IFCA, really? From the possible caricature being presented in the persona originating the ideology (an "an old Paths type IFB") would eschew anything that didn't have Baptist in their name. ;)

I live in the heart of GARBC/IFCA country. Both groups came out of the northern baptists (among others) as a response to modernism. Both share spiritual DNA from some of the big names from that time (Ketchum being a major hero for both). I'm old enough to remember when Grand Rapids Baptist and GRSBM regularly locked horns over doctrinal issues (okay, just the one). I even know a number of IFCA guys who refuse to accept that they are fundamentally baptist. We have been involved in multiple ministries (camps and AWANA) that crossed over between the two. Worshipped in churches from both groups. Bible studies, prayer times and many a meal. Ultimately for me, I can't see a nickel's worth of difference between them

Of course you know my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek on the previous post. Nonetheless, thanks for the interesting first-hand edumacation in that wing of Baptistdom.

Being "Old Paths," I'm curious if he wants to go back to the '80s or all the way to the late '40s/early '50s?

As for me, I guess I am a little on the "Liberale" side seeing that I do not use the 1611 King James Bible. I use the newfangled one published by Cambridge University in 1769.

"A collection of works critiquing some of the most powerful women in 16th century Europe. The principle [sic] contributor being John Knox, the protestant Scottish religious reformer."
Written specifically, of course, against Catholic female monarchs, particularly Mary I of England and Mary, Queen of Scots. As I recall, Knox didn't have much bad to say about Elizabeth I when she succeeded Mary, though Elizabeth resented him.

I'm missing something here. I don't see the connection between socialism and feminism. As far as feminism in the church is concerned, hasn't John R. Rice already dealt with that for us?

bookmeal: Bobbed Hair, Bossy Wives and Women Preachers: Swim On

Socialism is the economics of Feminism.

Wow you guys are vicious. Accusations with no substance. Even after I explained myself there is still nothing but sarcastic put downs. How is that fundamental? How is that Christian? Obviously the two are connected. It's most of you that seem angry. And with no cause. Are you socialists? Or feminists? It seems like those things could be a sacred cow on this forum from the reaction I am getting. Who am I? I am a Independent Fundamental Baptist, for over 20 years. And John R Rice was right when he wrote Bobbed hair bossy wives and women preachers. May God open your eyes.
Blah, blah, blah. Virtue signaling shall avail you nothing. Roll in the mire with the Boor Brigade till FSSL steps in, and they'll back off.

So you want names? For something that is obviously true? Something is wrong with your logic. Get help please. God bless. I will be ignoring you until your behavior changes.

Thank you for your kindness. The biggest influence over me was probably Roger Magnuson of the straight gate church in Minneapolis. That was a church where women covered there heads with head scarves. I like David Cloud but we disagree over Christians being politically involved. Bob Jones seemed good too but his university has gone down hill. A Google search for fundamentalism got me to this forum. I think I have a fairly thick skin. But I would rather hold my "sodomy is still sin" sign at a gay pride parade then have someone who is supposed to be a brother attacking me.

I think David Cloud is right about Chappell. I here McArthur uses rock music so I have cooled towards him
